Booked a flight to Eire for 26th jan

Need to change it to end march for obvious reasons.
Spent the last week trying to change it but online app won't accept payment so change not happening.
No telephones being answered and online help is automated shi t.
I despise the company but they are handy with stansted, they are neither cheap or punctual but I use them.
Never again.....this is basic robbery.

A good flight these days is hard to find

Keep a record of what you tried to do - then Card issuer claim......

Small claims court may well be in order, although they are Dublin based

'Chargeback' might be the term you are looking for...

Genuine question why wouldn't you fly with any Chinese airlines?

It’s the only way to get around China unless you go overland. if you have a desired go. A chum of mine was doing that a good few years ago now and didn’t have a seatbelt. When he looked around there were people with no seats, chickens, all sorts of things.

Like Aeroflot, for many years their safety record was not published. I heard that it wasn’t the best. With their ‘westernisation’ and purchase of Boeing and Airbus aircraft I’m sure it’s a lot better now.

That sounds a little ridiculous to be honest. I've been lucky enough to travel around China, flying a few times internally. All flights matched anything you can get in the west if not better.

Aeroflot are now one of the safest airlines in the world. Most of their crashes happened during the Soviet era.

Aeroflot did have quite some reputation to be fair.

It seemed they were dropping them out the sky at one point!

Oh yeah I totally agree but they have massively cleaned up their act. I've never flown with them but I'd be happy to.

However it sounds, it was how it was related to me. You had a good experience: great. I believe China Airlines, the one based in Taiwan, has the worst safety record in the world. Air China is better. Aeroflot is also better thanks to new aircraft, but it’s not in anyone’s top 20 safest airlines in the world. That’s based on what we know and are told. Are the Chinese and Russians open and honest on their aviation industry? I wouldn’t like to bet my house on it.

I was careful with my wording because unlike some aspects of aviation, my knowledge of civilian stuff is poor. My ski buddy, who is very interested (a bit of a spotter) and has travelled everywhere lots of times will know.

Interestingly, one of the problems these countries have is pilot quality. The west has a far bigger pool of pilots to select from so the standard is higher. Mind you, the default setting in any accident is blame the pilot first (e.g. Sullenberger and the Airbus ditching in the Hudson), which I’ve always felt a bit unfair.

Aircraft themselves are loads safer than they ever used to be thanks to computers. Jet engines, which are really simple devices in principle with few moving parts, are also way safer than the past, let alone piston engined aircraft or worse, helicopters.

Edit: I exclude the Boeing 737 Max which is flawed and some think was allowed to fly again too early - BBC today

Im half Irish myself, (the lazy half)f but the CEO of Ryanair is 100% Irish and he is a rat a dirty one at that.

Any other company operating this way would be discarded by its customers but as the monopolies commission don't give a f ck what Ryanair do at Stansted they get away with robbery.

the app works fine to book flights but if you want to change or manage one then funny how it all breaks down!!!

Why would the lazy half of you be Irish?

Half Irish people can be racist.

If you think Micheal O’Leary is a rat, then call him a rat.

Try harder to not be a little bit racist.
