Definitely but the last 4 years especially has been horrific. The same players plodding along in second gear losing pretty much every week for 4 years. No more fire. No more hunger. Standards disgusting.
It's a dangerous vicious circle we find ourselves in and if anyone has played whatever standard of football from pub to semi pro, is that unless you have a good core of senior pros your team will lose more than it wins. | |

We never beat decent teams, because we simply play a style that only creates chances through pieces of individual quality rather than any structure.
That so many of these defeats are to nil show where the problem lays, and it's not like we have got senior strikers letting us down.
In the 8 games we've lost against the top 7 this year we've scored 2 goals, and barely created anything - the manager is an utter fraud and simply can't set a team up to win games. |  |

Without doubt he's one of if not the worst thing to happen to this club. But the same players were sht before he turned up too. You giving certain players a free ride is odd.
Anyway, going back and forth on why we've come to this is pointless and depressing.
Roll on the summer when he will be sacked.....and let's hope a lot of the players follow him out of the door too. | |

Those same players have barely played in the cup games - we always play a rotated side, even when we go to Old Trafford and face Wayne Rooney et al we have a Cb pairing of Josh Yorwerth and Piotr Malarczyk
The reason we haven't won cup games is the shocking attitude of our managers - both Mick McCarthy and Paul Lambert to how they treat cup ties - 10 changes for the Pompey game this year, 7 changes for the Fulham game in the League Cup.
The club treats the cup competitions with a total disrespect - but yet you blame the senior players for this.
The manager sells our best players and replaces them with dross from L1 and L2, senior players fault

Nearly all of those contracts have been renewed since Lambert has been here, I think the only senior player who hasn't signed a new deal under, or was signed by, Lambert are Kayden jackson, Emyr Huws and Flynn Downes
The squad is of a ludicrous depth for this league - when you have 11 injuries and still are able to name Luke Chambers, Alan Judge, Stephen Ward, Emyr Huws with probably 2000 EFL matches between them, plus 100 international caps, plus Kayden Jackson and others in the team then any moaning about injuries should fall on deaf ears.
There is a culture of defeatism set by the manager at the moment, even now talking about saying it is morally wrong for football to continue etc - it's not the attitude that the fans want to hear - he should understand the privileged position he is in | |
