In the early seventies, Mick Hill took off the tape that kept his socks up and threw it into the net, North Stand end. I ran on and grabbed it. I took it in my pocket to the next few matches (3 or 4) and he scored in every one!

I had so many when I was a kid but the one I most remember was after Baltacha’s debut.
I live in Sussex so, as a teenager, I used to get the train to Ipswich once a month.
On the day of that Stoke game I noticed a street called Portman Place just as we were heading out of Liverpool Street.
I’d never seen it before but felt it was a lucky omen and so it proved as we won 5-1.
Every time I went to Ipswich after that I had to make a point of seeing that street sign.
If I did I felt sure we’d win. That worked for a few games but then John Duncan launched some sort of counter curse.
Even now, if I ever take the train, I look out for that sign.

Since Marcus Evans takeover I’ve steadily drunk more and more before each match. The superstition relates to blotting out each match from the memory.

During our promotion season (2000 as memory serves me), I had a superstition of turning my watch dial onto the inside of my wrist. Worked throughout the playoffs, but then after the final I forgot to turn it back, fell over celebrating, and smashed the b-gger

....as the last match if we'd won and a different one if we'd lost.

But I "ran out" of stairwells pretty quickly.
