Cricket Day 5 04:53 - Feb 9 with 4163 views | gainsboroughblue | Well. Given how I'm known as the cricketing jinx of the board. I'm proud that the first ball I watch on turning on the telly, is seeing Jimmy absolutely castle Gill to take India's third wicket. Jaffa. 92-3.

Leachy is a very good cricketer, but an even better human being.

Right up there. Reminded me of the clinical wins in Australia in 2010-11.

Yes, this is a better Indian team than the one in 2012 (?) when England last won a series in India. They've come off the back of a superb tour of Australia too but England have been brilliant throughout (with the exception of some of the spin bowling). We need to do it again at least once because I think India will come back strongly.

Cricket Day 5 on 08:14 - Feb 9 with 1130 views | itfcjoe | I was hoping we'd have them 3 or 4 down by the time I woke up - as I turned on they were 6 down, and deciding whether to review Ashwin (which they subsequently did unsuccessfully) A fantastic performance, with everyone stepping up

That's a fantastic win, got to be one of the best England performances away from home in years, but I can't lie, I still expect India to win the series.

Yes, this India side is too good to not respond. Very decent second innings from Leach, who we have to remember hasn't played a lot of cricket over the last 18 months. Bess I'm still unconvinced by but he does have a knack of taking wickets, even with bad balls. You'd have to say spin bowling is our weakness. The batting looks strong though and we've got plenty of pace bowlers with enough skill to take wickets when it's not an overcast morning at Trent Bridge.

Sick burn. Probably don't want to be gloating with a couple of tests still to play though.

Love it or hate it, the rotation policy kicks in now, assume Anderson will be rested for the next test, Foakes coming in for Buttler. Big test coming up in the next three matches, what a series win this could be! And imagine how good our 1st XI would be without the rotation!

I would still go with India to win the series I think, but going to be much more interesting now they need to win matches.

But in terms of rest, dealing with the heat/humidity and morale (having to be confined in a Covid bubble for a long time, away from home), it might be the best policy in the present instance. Moreover, England has too many good players to fit in one team - given you need spinners in the Subcontinent.
