I thought I would have to send my dashcam as evidence one day when a lady decided to take on an articulated lorry in a game of chicken on the A1, I dropped back and waited for the crash, which fortunately did not happen. It was an interesting battle and she eventually caught on that there was only going to be one winner if she persisted. I did not think for one moment to upload the incident to plod. |  | |  |

Depends entirely on the situation.
I've seen some moronic loon try to run someone off the M1 at speed because they didn't move out of the way quick enough to his liking.
Swinging in and out of the other lane, overtaking, slamming on brakes...
So sure, if I'd had a camera on that day damn right I'd have submitted footage.
As an aside, the very same happened to a mate of mine once and it ended in a smash up.
He had witnesses who stopped though and the idiot responsible got a hefty fine and a lengthy ban. 2 little girls he had at the time and this piece of sh1t could have orphaned them that day.

Bought one for my helmet (In case of accident, needing evidence) but never got round to putting the sodding thing on. They do make for some good youtube vids, especially the Russian ones which seem to record all ends of mental drivers. |  |

It never occured to me to get one until some chancer threw himself on my bonnet one afternoon.
I was leaving the garage forecourt in Tayfen Road BSE when a grown man came from nowhere on a pushbike and landed dramatically on my car.
He started yelling all sorts claiming he was hurt.
Peter, the garage owner, and a member of staff he'd been chatting to outside, saw the charade and came over.
Pete gave him a mouthful and sent him packing.
I can honestly say I had no idea what was going on! [Post edited 18 Feb 2021 16:03]

Reminds me back in the 1990s on my commuter coach into London. A car had cut up the coach. The driver then skilfully blocked the car from leaving the M11 at the Redbridge junction, and forced him to continue helplessly sailing on the the North Circular towards the Beckton Sewage Works and the Woolwich ferry. |  |

Worst one I had was when slowly reversing out of a space in Lagos. Had been to a local beach and was with an expat friend and a couple of Nigerians when one lad slams the dashboard and shouts for me to stop.
Turns out some of the "area boys" had placed a lad (with polio and fcked legs) near my wheels whereupon (according to my Nigerian friends) it would have been "Whiteman - look what you did to our brother" and would have cost me a fair bit in medical bills...
Not sure a dashcam would've helped much - but shows how exposed you are to a he said/she said without one... [Post edited 18 Feb 2021 16:12]

I know a few cyclists who use them. Think generally if they are to be used as evidence you need front/rear facers for some reason. | |

I believe dashcams are compulsory in Russia, or, at least, a very common insurance stipulation. Thus there is masses of footage. |  |

no you dont, front or rear is sufficient, some are even trying 360 cameras but the distortion is a bit funky, but as long as it shows whats happened clearly, its good for evidence and prosecution you dont need front & rear |  | | |
