The curse of Town and big occassion and the chance to get fans back into... 14:28 - Mar 8 with 1066 views | unstableblue | .... the club Its really positive that so many signed up to iFollow and tuned into the Gillingham game. And it got me thinking just how many Sky games, key games, 'must win' and big occasion matches - where Town have been in the public eye for some reason have the players NOT TURNED UP FOR and delivered a poor performance. Its countless. Its becoming a recurring and BIG issue under Marcus. And it puts those fans (not those on here, and perhaps not those even who signed up for iFollow on Saturday) off supporting the club, those lapsed fans we need to attract back. Take the Newcastle Sir Bobby Robson game under Keane - we didn't show any passion or desire in that game... so many under Mick where crowds were drawn back but our product fell short, the little lift after Hurst arrived destroyed, etc etc etc etc We are team that cannot raise itself to the big occasion. We have to sort this out if we are going to progress, lapsed fans are seeing trips to Portman Road as a chore not an entertaining pleasure.

The curse of Town and big occassion and the chance to get fans back into... on 15:08 - Mar 8 with 973 views | chrismakin | Very valid point I'd argue these tv games etc have really hurt Town. Take Leeds for example. Alot of people hate the club but I remember seeing so many positive reviews from neutrals watching their early prem games on Sky and despite losing some games they still looked exciting to watch.

The curse of Town and big occassion and the chance to get fans back into... on 15:15 - Mar 8 with 958 views | Churchman | It’s very strange. Is it that we just don’t win many important games these days? I am hoping the whole culture of the football club changes, maybe through a strong manager in Cook or new ownership? The anti climax of that Newcastle game still sends shivers down the spine. It was a total embarrassment.

Swindon and Northampton for just two recent examples. It’s a simplistic point but I don’t see many leaders on our team, the vocal Chambers excepted.

The curse of Town and big occassion and the chance to get fans back into... on 16:34 - Mar 8 with 844 views | Parsley | I'd look at it slightly differently. The fan base is still there and is still interested as indicated by the iFollow record for the Gillingham game. Before covid the attendances in league 1 were still good so I can't help but think that if things do turn around then it could be really exciting (annoyingly, to paraphrase Paul Lambert)

It was a TOTAL embarrassment - I have lost count of the amount of time I’ve rallied teams to come back to Portman Road (we used to in groups of 10-12 for the burley days, the football was so exciting!) and it had been so flat, so lacking desire and attacking intent. The Robson memorial game.... we just looked uninterested it was unforgivable

Yes! Hadn’t thought of that... but I do remember a large portion of the ticket promotion games, with higher gates, also involving poor Town performances We need an Uber statto to confirm

30 off big games in league 1 without a win before the Hull game. To be fair Wycombe at home last season the ref was a blatant cheat. The Newcastle game mentioned before. Any Fa cup game which when I was younger was a big game. Pretty much every Derby game since 2009.
