Elderly neighbour has just asked on 17:47 - Mar 21 by J2BLUE | If you don't agree with Darth you're either trolling or too thick to realise he's right. Well, which is it? |
So you’re going to jump in and take that side? Fine. I accept your apology in 2 years’ time.

Take what side? Over the last year or so you've become incredibly aggressive and arrogant on political threads. There are things we agree on and things we disagree on. I don't know why centrist became a dirty word on here. I would say most of the country are, broadly, centrist yet anyone who doesn't agree with you is treated like some sort of idiot.

I’ve always been direct on political threads and most other threads too. And always called out people who I think are being disingenuous or otherwise talking crap. What’s the change?

In the last year or so there has been a complete refusal to even consider anything from any other viewpoint and you just aggressively accuse people of trolling or being stupid.

Re: centrist being a dirty word, I don’t know why leftie became a dirty word. Actually that’s a lie. Leftie is a dirty word because it’s what the right AND the centre fear most. So, I think it’s about time that pretty lazy centrism that is designed to reject change is called out. The centrists aren’t above left v right, they’re in the fight. And sometimes they’re the worst people in the fight when they don’t even stand for anything. But in real terms, the political weight of the centrists in the UK has been awfully used over the past few decades. They are the ultimate sleepwalkers.

Worst fight ever. We’re doing that jostling bit where neither of us really wants to fight with the other but has to style it out.

I don’t know. Just like I don’t know why you’re having a dig here when it’s against people who give it out to me just as much. So I’m trying to work it out.

Oh absolutely. As I said, I read their posts to me more than you so I know exactly what they write. Lowers hates me (which is as intended) and thinks being on the left is all about self-righteousness. Actually, it’s more rage about the evidence of injustice. But I understand how that needs to be dismissed. I’m much less brutal with ullaa but then again it’s just his simple man trying to understand the world shtick. I don’t believe it but I have more sympathy for him given how half-hearted it is. This is after years of their contributions. It really doesn’t bother me but I reserve the right to treat them with the respect they deserve. But you get this with GB. This is the same and equally as predictable.

Appreciate that. And I think you’re a good sort even if we agree/disagree in equal measure. Perhaps because of it.

Elderly neighbour has just asked on 14:13 - Mar 21 by J2BLUE | Ulla is as balanced as they come. I guess everyone is the enemy and looks right wing when you're radical left though. Same as those on the far right think any form of balance makes you a liberal leftie. |
I am with you on your general point here (although I would say that Ullaa sometimes comes across in his posts as a bit gullible rather than balanced to me, I mean he supports a team leading the Championship rather than one in the middle of the Third Division...) but really feel that attaching liberal to 'leftie' is misguided. Free market liberals can practically sit next door to Fascism (check out the Wikipedia page on the founder of IKEA for a bit of startling revelation) whilst the playground term 'leftie' seems to cover everything from hand wringing Christians with more empathy than pragmatism all the way over to unreconstructed Stalinists (who channel someone who ruled over an actual pact with Fascism for a while.)

Not my views. Just stating a fact. "Liberal left" rolls off the tongue for anyone on the far right almost as if it's one word.

And this is how the far right creep into language, you think 'liberal left' just rolls off the tongue but a little reflection should tell you that it is a ridiculous and misleading conflation. Far from being a fact I would argue that it is just a facet of brainwashing.

For anyone on the far right. Do try actually reading my posts. That's two you've misrepresented now.

Misrepresented? I think you are being oversensitive, I am backing up what you say with the exception of taking your presentation of 'liberal leftie' as a fact, is see it as an observation that can be true in some cases but not in others.
