It could be a very simple case that he was well aware of the talks that had been happening, but saw it as a summer change - hence " Exciting things coming in the summer"

He probably was shocked to hear about it Wednesday and thought, it's been hard enough to get this lot to wake up without throwing in the takeover business. Now they know even more that they have no hopes of new contracts, cheers M.E

clearly a guess on my part, BUT it would make a lot of sense

Why would new owners make it less likely for players to sign new contracts?

Cook talked about exciting summer WITH Evans.

So apart from your take being completely incorrect its good.

It wouldn't be right if he only found out via the club announcement, surely he would've had some notice.

To be honest, if he walks, he walks.

I think if backed he will do a good job, but it's certainly been disappointing so far. I was initially concerned about his reliance on one formation.

"Why would new owners make it less likely for players to sign new contracts?"
Less budget restraints, more chance of being able to get better cover than sticking with a ward for example.

Show me where it says exciting summer with Evans................ and if it does, I apologise in advance

Any good pro should be putting in their best possible performance to win a contract.... Whether that is with us or a new team.

Playing sh1te does not earn you a tasty contract at a new club.

Think Phil has repeated a few times that Cook was definitely talking about his plans with Evans when he referred to exciting things.

...Evans is still the largest individual share holder at the club.

I don't think he's been disappointing at all
He's barely been able to select the strongest 11 together, Kenlock, Bennetts, Norwood.

he's got nothing to work with, yet people are expecting the world.

And I know people have their opinions on Bennetts etc, but he was integral to the wins before Cook came in, and kenlock was a breath of fresh air at left back that we've lost since Cooks come in, and Norwood speaks for itself.

'people are expecting the world.'

I expect at least one shot on target per game.

No ones expecting the world.

I think some are expecting him to improve on what one of our worst ever managers in the history of the club was producing.

There's a chasm between expecting that and "the world" and you seem naively incapable of realising that.

To the contrary.

He's been given a free pass, with low expectation. But unfortunately we haven't seen any improvement at all, especially after Matt Gills 3 wins.

Like I say, I think he'll do OK when he has his own team, but I think it's 100% fair to say his impact has so far been underwhelming.

And you're still incapable of telling us how PC should be able to have a positive effect on results when the players who would most likely give him those, aren't available

You keep ignoring the question.

HOW CAN PC IMPROVE ON PREVIOUS RESULTS WHEN HE HAS A WORSE AVAILABLE SQUAD TO SELECT FROM?

It's quite fair to expect a manager to coach his players to be able to register a shot on target over a period of 3 hours.

I'm not sure he does have a worse squad.

It's quite fair to expect a coach to improve performance through better coaching, communication, systems and tactics. That's the whole point of changing manager.

Kenlock and Bennetts are not exactly the shining lights of our club.

You didn't address the stat of zero shots on target in 3 hours of football.

We have had injuries all season Norwood for example has missed a lot of it so has kenlock , I remember you banging on and on about lambert and how poor he was , well cook has the same squad available yet some how he has managed to make lambert look good , cook has shown nothing absolutely nothing apart from ow to make lambert look good ,

I didnt rave about Gill.

My point was that so far the impact of Cook has been underwhelming. I think that's 100% fair, and many fans would agree.

That's a really bizarre take that you don't feel a manager can impact performances.

We will have to agree to differ here.

You seem to think that a manager basically does nothing other than sign players.

Apparently tactics, coaching, mentality, phases of play, set piece plans, attacking move coordination and instructions are nothing to do with Cook.

Clueless.

No point in anyone changing a manager unless you expect the incoming manager to improve things-and they usually do.
