Finding Jack Charlton 20:48 - Apr 12 with 1653 viewsSteve_M

Someone posted about it on here when it was in a few weeks back but I’ve only just got round to watching it. It’s very good and definitely worth watching although it is rather sad.

Yeah, I downloaded it a while back and watched it a few days ago.

As you say, worth watching but also sad.

Very good documentary, such an awful disease and equally sad to hear Bobby is suffering the same illness.

I will watch it, but it’s something I’m steeling myself to do, having seen dementia up close and personal.

Good centre half, World Cup winner, Leeds great team, good club manager, Ireland and a what a character.

A great watch and highly recommended.

It’s a great doc. He was a bit of a hero of my old boy for what he did at Leeds and Ireland, and his descent into dementia reminded me of what we saw with my dad as well. A tough watch.

Trailing vapour since 1999.
Poll: Should Gav and Phil limiti the number of polls?

The most poignant bit for me was when Pat said to him that the Irish love him and he responded that he didn't know.

Superb if disturbing doc. Interesting that it is centred mainly on the time with Ireland, with very little about his Leeds career.

Football didn't exist pre 1992.

In that case they must have ignored the first six years of Jack's time as the Ireland boss!

I totally take your general point though.

Yeah I was being a little facetious!

...and the bit at the end when he said he could hardly remember anything.

Waiting for the Paul McGrath documentary. I thought he came across extremely well.

At least Charlton could still watch the videos on his laptop and bits would come back.

Agree on McGrath, that's a hell of a story too.

I enjoyed it, but thought it wasn't AS wonderful as the hype had suggested, mainly because of its Ireland-centric storyline .
I do remember being at Portman Road in what was possibly his last year as a player, and he took it upon himself to have a little run with the ball and then lash it into our net : we were not amused, at the time!
