But I do have an issue with testimonials more generally. They were originally for servants of a club when the players were paid a lot less and were expected to go out into the real world and try and make ends meet like the rest of us.
The situation is somewhat different now. Chambers would have made a tidy living off us and I don't think he deserves the financial support when the vast majority of us will be less well-off than him.

If it were, instead, to be a match raising money for a charity of Chambers' choice, that would make much more sense in the modern era.

Of course he bladdy should. All of the above apart from 'no' (but I am a bit of a numbskull too). Does he like Stilton though? That's the more important question.
