Why on Earth would you butter Jamaica Ginger Cake? It is already pumped full of sugar and fat, the last thing it needs is butter,
I used to buy and enjoy it, the Golden Syrup cake too, but the palm fat rules these out for me now (and Soreen also contains palm fat so I have given that up too). Regrettably Mr. Kipling's and all the other branded battenberg also contains palm fat, I will make my own one day... |  |

It's how we've always eaten it in our household. Besides, I am Mr Metabolism and am skinny as a beanpole, so getting all fat is no issue here. Heart disease on the other hand...
