And that's the problem, you're speaking from the heart not the head.
I'm not saying this to be critical. Goodness knows I feel like this after a defeat; my emotional side, after today, thinks that we've just brought in a load of mercenaries who will fleece the club and don't give a damn.
But then my rational side cuts in. On balance of play, I'd say we've had enough chances in the three matches so far to be on at least four points and through to the second round of the League Cup. And as hard as it is to stomach, I'd prefer to be throwing away points at this stage of the season but seemingly building towards something rather than our start last year, where our performances were poor but we were fluking victories by scoring with every shot on target.
The signs of growth and improvement are there; we can see what we are trying to do. As someone else said we probably played with five reserves today (Penney, Donacien, Woolfenden, Dobra and Barry) today so, as long as we can fix our fitness issues, we should still have a bright season to look forward to. We just have to get through the darkness first. |

Donacien is a right back playing at centre back; Woolfenden's development has been hindered by managerial choices over the last year (and, even as a supporter of his, I can't but agree he has a concentration issue) but I think, with an experienced, reliable centre back next to him I think he can find his 19/20 form at least.
In all honesty, will we get better reserve centre backs at this level than Nsiala and Woolfenden? I don't think so - that's the level we're at. | |

By my reckoning 18 games takes us until mid November for the new manager. 18 games is more than enough to ‘get a tune’ out of them. That’ll give his replacement a Jan transfer window. If he loses games, get another in at the end of Feb and give him until end of the season to get us in the play offs. Four managers in the season - surely one must succeed. Would that make you happy?
Back to reality, you fail to understand that every supporter is very disappointed. My expectation is for them to be doing a heck of a lot better by the end of October.
