Tried it yesterday when visiting oldest offspring who lives in Cambridge, just the other side of A14 in Cambridge.
Very nice, not too badly priced, worked out at less than £25 a head.
Histon appears to be a nice little place, plenty of pubs and restaurants, despite having used the A14 past it hundreds of times over the years I didn't really know it was there, especially that close to the A14. |  |

Histon is a nice place with plenty going for it without having to cope with traffic conjestion or getting your push bike stolen in Cambridge. |  | | |

The general rule is that any village you can easily cycle to Cambridge from is lovely, quiet and has at least one decent pub. Stow-Cum-Quy may be an exception on the quiet front but still has some lovely property, a serviceable pub (at least it did) and is 30 seconds from Anglesey Abbey and Quy Fen which on a summers morning is beautiful.
If you are near Cambridge and fancy an easy beer or two with no parking trauma, I'd recommend Thirsty on Mitcham's corner. They have about 12 craft beers on tap and a food van basically every night. [Post edited 5 Dec 2021 17:29]
