Does McGreal try something a little different today? 09:12 - Dec 11 with 3467 viewsitfcjoe

He didn’t have time to go with anything on Tuesday and out of a respect for Cook can see why he went with what he did - but do we see something a little bit more out there out there today?

2 up front maybe with Pigott in behind Bonne? El Mizouni to start? Woolfie in for Toto? 3 at the back?

I’m not expecting much, but wouldn’t be at all surprised to see something a bit different

He has to if he wants the job especially in the wake of the performance at The Valley. I’m travelling up now and I’ll be disappointed if it’s the same system or a 442.

I’m a fan of the of Jackson’s system. We have the personnel for it and it gives us two up top.

3-1-4-2

Walton
Wolfenden - Edmunson - Burgess
Morsy
KVY - El Miz - Fraser - Penney
Bonne - Pigott

Bench: Hladky, Toto, Evans, Chaplin, Celina, Aluko, Norwood

I'd switch it to have a more attacking playmaker sat behind the strikers.

Walton
Wolfenden Edmundson Burgess
KVY Carroll El Mizouni Humphreys
Fraser
Bonne Pigott

Carroll to take the play on the half turn from the defence

Think my team would be 4-4-2, everyone must have played in that formation at some point in their careers, so no real shock to a change in formation.

Walton
Donacian Toto Edmundson Penny
Aluko Morsey El Miz Chaplain
Norwood Bonne

Slightly more defensive side, but i think thats what we need at the moment. Donacien and Penny can support Aluko and Chaplain, Toto and Edmundson are currently our best CB pairing. Morsey and El Miz can control the midfield and distribute the ball from the centre of the park to who shows and make the right runs. Think Chaplain is to good to be on the bench, Bonne not really been given the service in the last few games, Norwood, Bonne, Chaplain and Aluko close and press the opposition well.

He has to try something different- we are where we are due to lack of variety with formations.
Think Bonne needs a rest, would like to see Piggot and Norwood. Chaplin needs to start.

We need wins as does McGreal. Attack. Attack. Attack.

I’d rather see Norwood start over Woolfenden

Not in defence.

I think the team I picked has a very good attacking front line, both physical forwards who can get on the end of any balls thrown into the box from Aluko and Chaplain and can also play of the defenders shoulder.

Where we lack is holding onto a lead or conceding stupid goals, with a more defensive back four, I would hope we could keep a clean sheet and still have enough in midfield/up front to cause Wigan problems.

I'm not so sure about Bonne being given a rest. I think a game in which he gets some decent support and is able to bag a goal or an assist will do him just as much good.

If we play 2 up it would be nuts to drop Bonne. I’d play Piggot and Bonne with Norwood as an impact sub.

I'll be disappointed if we line up with the same formation again today. JM has to try something different.

El Miz to start today with three at the back, no idea who's fit for the wing back roles. Ideally it'd be Burns and Coulson but I'd go...

Walton
Woolf Toto Edm
KVY Penny
El Miz Morsy Harper
Bonne Norwood

Like it, but d maybe play Carrol or Fraser instead of Harper,

If we play 2 strikers then Chaplin has to be one of them.

The obsession with Woolfenden here is becoming laughable, he gets bullied in this league far too easily and teams know it in the same way as they know the ball back to Nsiala is safe because he’ll just hoof it

Nsiala has to boot it as our midfielders don’t move so he’s got not options most of the time!!!!!

He didn't. not really. That's 4-2-3-1 with a few tweaks of personnel.
