The after-match scenes at Charlton were a disgrace and we’ve seen other unsavoury stuff from time to time, but yesterday it reached a new low when their player had to be carted off. Fine, we’ve seen a lot of cheating from visiting sides this season as they take a breather and for a brief moment I thought Sunderland were at it as well. But come on guys, booing when a player is stretchered off with a potentially serious injury? Not classy.Thought we were better than that.

To the extent that Sunderland or Newcastle would boo a player who couldn’t walk? I’m not convinced. Besides, when did Ipswich-Sunderland become the acceptable line for people not being shocked by booing someone who had just been crippled? Two clubs with zero previous relative hostility..??
mind you if someone was feigning injury which has been suggested earlier in this post, that would be acceptable/expected even. Once that player is on a stretcher or cart off the pitch because they can’t walk - not acceptable. Obviously IMO.
League One is full of divers and time wasters. We have seen it all season and frankly are fed up with the acting and killing the game off most teams do, Oxford being the worse example we have seen so far. In one instance the player was actually injured. It wasn't helped by the fact he at one point got up and went back down to the ground, again, an act we have seen from others when they were faking it. So your argument isn't with us, but the culture of this sh1tty league where faking injury to break the game up is okay, and not cheating, which it is. If you don't like it, I suggest you stop doing it yourselves.
But the others where your lot kept going to ground whenever they were lightly touched, yet seemed okay to constantly hold our players back were fine examples of League One nonsense that wouldn't fly in a more professional league. Where are the cries of bad sportsmanship there? Arguably you wouldn't have got a point without it because you sued it to break up the game when we had you pinned back to your box for most of the first half. In this league just because the cart has been brought out, which was comically slow getting to the player, means nothing about the seriousness of the injury because I legitimately wouldn't put it past most League One players to take their shthousery that far because this league is absolutely riddled with it, because the officials are frankly a pile of toss.
We as supporters cannot be blamed for no longer being able to tell the difference.

You obviously weren’t at the SOL in 2002 when a large number of your fans in the corner, near away fans, were singing ‘Bobby robsons nearly fcking dead’
That caused a few issues, and to this day I remember it. So personally, fck Sunderland
I think we got that wrong, it looked at first like another fake injury so can see why reaction was as it was - once the sub was prepared and he was having to go off on the back of the kart then there should have been a bit more respect shown.

I remember that too. Was at the game with my Dad and remember how disgusted he was with it.

I think what didn’t help was the player and physio initially wanted to walk off right across the pitch to the dugouts, while the ref rightly wanted them to leave at the closest point by the sideline. Their continued insistence to try and head to the dugouts, a much greater distance, certainly created the impression that they just wanted to delay things. The fact that the player then just sat down again when they couldn’t get their own way just exacerbated that impression.

Most of the booing was because it was taking too long, Ref took ages to wave the physio on, the player got up then sat back down, the physio then tried to help him hobble off the wrong way - to the dugout instead of the nearest touchline, player sat down again, then they called for the stretcher. More boos when they realised the golf cart wasn't fully charged and they had to plug the USB-c back in. Then he didn't even get on the stretcher, just sat on the back before they plonked him on another stretcher. There weren't many boos when he actually got driven off as people had decided to distract themselves with the flags. You could see the Sunderland fans were jealous they didn't get a flag to chuck on the pitch

Did you miss my question about booing from your lot just before kick off?
"They break our legs and tell us to be grateful when they offer us crutches."

Maybe we thought you were employing sh!thousery tactics and trying to slow things down?
On a serious note if that happened, and I would believe it did, it’s unacceptable. There’s too many of our away support that believe the knee taking has gone on for too long now and don’t know where or when it will end, or what it is achieving. I think Southgate did a really great job uniting people in the Summer over continuing the knee bend. We stopped doing it this season as a club, I think about 50% of clubs have, but to boo those that continue is despicable.

Sunderland fans show more respect to Bobby Robson than any other club hands down. We raised hundreds of thousands for his foundation. Similarly Newcastle fans did the same with Bradley Lowry. We continue to support Newcastle charities and vice versa.

It's almost like all clubs have a few idiots but the majority are decent.
