Here's a nice Yuletide conundrum on vaccines 07:07 - Dec 23 with 1198 views | WeWereZombies | https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-59761537 Gordon Brown, who might just be the most ethical and moral Prime Minister the United Kingdom has ever had - but also the most error prone (until Johnson, that is), rightly highlights the uneven distribution of vaccines around the World. But how much of this inequality arises from wilful self interest of richer nations and how much from the practicalities of distribution from where vaccines are manufactured and from the necessity of low temperature storage and the problems that arise from that? And how much resistance there is from some races and religions to the vaccines? Has any of that resistance been 'planted' online by racist memes or is it valid when past misdemeanours in medical practices are considered?

On the one hand you have the opposition politicians, media and general public screaming the we are not vaccinating fast enough. Then when a variant like omicron appears, those same people scream that we have been greedy in hoarding our vaccines instead of sharing it with poorer countries. Had we shared more of our stock would we now be in a position to give a million urgently needed boosters each day?

The population of the UK, including me and my family, have opted for a booster dose knowing much of the world is yet to be vaccinated. This won't go down well but i'm tired of hearing about religious groups. If they want to use faith to protect them then let them. There is enough science out there to convince anyone.

Here's a nice Yuletide conundrum on vaccines on 10:46 - Dec 23 with 965 views | ArnoldMoorhen | Why do you say Brown was the most error-prone? He was widely hailed for his handling of Foot and Mouth disease, and also acted to stop the run on Northern Rock, and then other High Street banks. Then he was a significant World leader in formulating the response to the wider 2008-9 debt crisis. He called an old woman a bigot, forgetting that he still had a mic on, which was an error. Re moral: yes, took a lead, and passed legislation, on both Climate Change and Equality for all, and spoke up for the need for the unpayable debt of the world's poorest nations to be written off, with successful results. But it should always be remembered that he was effectively second-in-command of the Government that took us into Iraq and Afghanistan, and dismantled a One-Party secular state in one and tore up a religio-tribal patchwork of alliances in the other, without proper plans for reconstruction.

I would ask Gordon Brown what would he do if he was PM, protect UK public with a 3rd jab or give it to other countries.
