Expect this has been discussed before but think it’s a shame we don’t really have a Club anthem like a lot of other clubs have (don’t really think ‘Singing the Blues’ cuts the mustard)!
Was just looking at a Facebook link this evening and some great ones around at clubs like Forest, Sheff Utd, West Ham etc., even up the road there’s that awful ’On the Ball City’!
Guess there has to a trigger or a specific link that causes fans to adopt a song that really sticks!
Personally always thought ‘Country Roads’ would be good….catchy chorus and don’t know of any other clubs that use it!
Was going to suggest that we invite Ed to write one for us, would that be a first in terms of an "anthem" commissioned by a football club from a living singer-songwriter?
Think 'Country Roads' is living up too much to our rural hick & 'Tractor Boys' image too much?
Personally, I like 'Song Sung Blue' (albeit I know many aren't exactly ND fans, but the lyrics are a good fit!)
"Song sung blue Everybody knows one Song sung blue Every garden grows one Me and you are subject to the blues now and then But when you take the blues and make a song You sing them out again Sing them out again Song sung blue Weeping like a willow Song sung blue Sleeping on my pillow Funny thing, but you can sing it with a cry in your voice And before you know, it get to feeling good You simply got no choice Me and you are subject to the blues now and then But when you take the blues and make a song You sing them out again Song sung blue Weeping like a willow Song sung blue Sleeping on my pillow Funny thing, but you can sing it with a cry in your voice And before you know, it started feeling good You simply got no choice Song sung blue Song sung blue Funny thing, but you can sing it with a cry in your voice"

In 2004 Malmö FF commisioned a 'hymn', because they were envious of the walk-out music of other clubs. (Hammarby in particular have a beautiful song, which was written by a fan and adopted by the fans around the tÃme that he died of alcoholism. )
The Malmö one is basically a 'Malmö are the greatest' song, (plus saying that Malmö has beautiful parks!) and the early lyrics had to be changed a bit as they were perceived by some to be xenophobic and sexist (along the lines of 'We stand where our fathers and grandfathers stood before us') . But the song certainly did catch on.
I actually really like Edward Ebenezer Jeremiah Brown. It’s quirky, unique, not just a rehash of a pop song. And good shouty bits like ‘Where was the goalie…’
Just needs Ed to cover it for it to become more well known! Doubt Ed would write his own sadly - too risky for him!
I know its a spoof song but I find the Ebeneezer song so embarrassing especially when I am with younger supporters. It certainly doesn't represent where Ipswich are going as a club.
More annoyingly It was clearly not written by a football supporter. What football supporter calls the No 1 position "a Goalie"? And who ever heard a football crowd sing "2-4-6-8" except in a poor television drama?
I have no idea why they keep on playing this thing.

Very good! and kudos to them, as that tune sounds hard to get to grips with & sing in tune.
Anthem for the last 15 years should have been Monty Pythons 'always look on the bright side of life'. Iron maiden always play to song at the end of gigs whilst the lights come on.
Sorry but cant stand never walk alone. I get that it fires up Anfield pre match due to the whole crowd getting on board with it, but its so slow and dull.
Enter sandman is great for NFL ganes with the guitar rif and fireworks as players run out of the tunnel but not as effective on a cold tuesday night away to Grimsby.
For entertainment value maybe New York , New York with all of the team in a line doing the high kick left and right would be good for a laugh of even the Haka would be better entertainment than the limp pre game handshake.
