How close is Morsy to another suspension? Wasn't Saturday's yellow his 10th of the season? I thought 10 yellows before March triggered a two-game ban.

I think he’s 7 yellows in the league. And 3 in the Cups. Don’t think they count in the cup.

I think there’s a cut-off point after 18 games (5 yellow cards) and 32 games (10 yellow cards). If that’s the case the slate might be wiped clean now. Not sure where he stands with the 2 red cards this season.

According to the stats, Morsy has 11 yellows, so it's probably the case that the 4 game ban included the 10 yellows accrued prior to MK Don's. Double-jepoardy and all that.

Whilst most on here (myself included) don't know the answer to this question, I"m very much hoping that K-Mac and Morsy both know the answer, so that there can be at least some effort to avoid another suspension.

Although we did fine without him, he's a really important player and it would be good to narrowly avoid another suspension before any cut-off point/slate-clean-wiping point.

I thought that Saturday was Morsy's best game for us but it is more a question of 'which minute will he get booked?' rather than 'will he get booked?'

A lot of his bookings are self-inflicted and unnecessary and I think that he has been lucky not to have more yellow cards than he has actually got.

There is a lot of truth in that, but I wouldn't blame him for Saturday's booking. He took the booking to prevent MK progressing when in a dangerous position. And slow the play down after a bit of pressure from them. It was the right thing to do in the circumstances, although shame that it was right at the end of the game.

I was sitting about the halfway line and spent a fair bit of time watching Morsy. It was clear that MK were trying to wind him up throughout the game. He didn't get drawn into their sh!thousing, but still had a very positive effect on the game. Perhaps he has learned from the Accrington incident.

Indeed, seven in the league, cups don't count. [Edit] Cut-off is the 37th game[/edit]. After that it's 15 before the end.

That's quite generous isn't it. He'll run it close though I'm sure.

If he accumulates ten yellow cards in the League before the end of the 37th match of the season, then he faces a two-game suspension.

Morsy is currently on seven League yellows (plus one red and a suspension imposed out of game time, neither of which count). We have completed 32 matches. Thus if he gets three more cards in the next five games, then he will be suspended.

Thereafter, the number goes up to 15 cards and the suspension increases to three games.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Actually, that's wrong, it's 37 for League One, 32 is the Premier League.

Yes, I agree. I was going to say something similar, but I held off, as I think that Saturday's booking (or the strong risk thereof) was justified in the circumstances, as farkenhell says, below.

It's difficult to separate out what he brings to the team in terms of presence and bite, from the risk of bookings. Maybe he'll get savvier as he becomes a gnarled old pro, but I guess one has to accept him, warts and all. I do think we're entitled to be irritated and critical when he gets a four game ban for giving someone a slap, but we've been over that ground, and he's served his time. I really hope to see the guy holding the play off trophy up in a few months' time!

I like his bite and the fact that he plays on the edge - we are undoubtedly a better side with his aggression in the middle. I think we have to accept that will result in a higher number of bookings than most other players. As PJH said, it is the avoidable and unnecessary ones that he needs to cut out.

His interview after the game was also quite upbeat, quite a contrast to when he joined and sounded like he'd lost the lottery.
