Congratulations to Rachel Blackmore on 17:38 - Mar 18 with 580 views | Ryorry | Felt really quite emotional watching her do that - says much for her determination & perseverance too, as apparently she had v. little success in her early years as a jockey - she's 32 now.

Blackmore was on the best horse (as it turned out) but she gave it a peach of a ride (in contrast to when on the same horse in the same race last year). She's clearly a very good jockey & it took time for her career to blossom, probably because of some lingering prejudice against female jockeys. However, the gushing or patronising ITV coverage was a bit much to take. She's good enough to stand on her own merits as a jockey, without getting extra praise because she's female.
