China Eastern . Much improved record over there since the 1990s and a new plane. Was 737-800 series which most global airlines operate (not a max). Inverted apparently and dropped 20,000 ft in two minutes.

Not good

Mad that we still have plane crashes in this day and age, with all the tech they have on them. Other than it being deliberate of course.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Tech is actually the cause for some of the more modern plane crashes, in some cases - simple programming errors.

It certainly was for the max series.

Although not air travel in the sense we might immediately think of, one of the easiest to avoid and crude examples of computer programming causing problems is Ariane 5.

Indeed. That's what I mean, although didn't express it properly. Today's modern tech ought to be foolproof by now.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Which was caused by Boeings cost cutting and negligence.

Yes - there is a very good PBS frontline documentary on the subject, if it 's available on YouTube in the UK worth a watch. Boeing's fatal flaw I believe it was titled. Frontline is actually an excellent long running docuseries.

It was certainly inexcusable not to ground then after the first accident. A gamble that went badly wrong.

I watched a documentary about it on Netflix. Some of the things Boeing have done with the Max are a disgrace. Like insisting pilots needed no extra training with the system used on the Max. They have a lot of blood on their hands.

The whole idea re the 737-max was to make it fly like the older versions to remove the need for extensive retraining and keep costs down and encourage 737 users to stay with the type rather than go to Airbus A300s. In principle it was a good idea - but it didn’t work and Boeing made a right mess of it.

The 737-800 is a stretch version of the original design and I’d used by a lot of airlines including TUI. It’s got a good record as has the original versions. However, it’s base design is old, relatively heavy and costlier to run than it’s Airbus competitor.

While the 737-Max is a response and will serve well, I’m amazed Boeing hasn’t replaced it completely, given it’s only new design for decades is the Dreamliner.
