Family days out in or near to Ipswich. 10:47 - Apr 6 with 3060 viewsMattinLondon

I’ll be coming back to Ipswich for a few days snd wondered if anyone has any recommendations for days out in or around Ipswich - say around an hours drive from Ipswich?

Must be family friendly and keep a three and six year old attention for a few hours. Open to most things.

TIA.

Might I recommend Bressingham Steam Museum? Never too young to learn about the wonders of traction engines.

Used to go there often when I was a child. Loved it.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

I utterly agree, having worked there many years ago it’s totally brilliant. Have a look at Channel 5s “Inside the Steam Train Museum” to give you more of an idea of what goes on before you visit.

Did you know Alan Bloom?

Amazing man!

No, never met him. He died 5 years before I worked there unfortunately. Yes, indeed he was a great man. And his memory very much lives on too.

He loved Rhubarb and put his longevity, in part, down to having it every day..

Long white hair, big earings and a tad eccentric, what he didn't know about perennial plants you could have written on a match box.

Fascinating chap.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.
