Amazing team, amazing fighting spirit and playing for the shirt. Compare it to the shower of Ipswich team back from 2018/19 who took us down without a fight.

Wish Lambert had said the same about Evans back in 2019.

Maybe Rooney is just a better manager than Hurst and Lambert?

Since we are in a division with Derby, Sunderland, Portsmouth, Sheffield Wednesday, Bolton, Charlton, Barnsley, Peterborough, Oxford, Plymouth and Wycombe then we will do well to finish top half.

Either that or we need to stop worrying about the history and reputation of clubs and play the teams they put out on the pitch. That includes finding ways to beat the likes of Cambridge, Morecambe, Exeter and Accrington as well as being better than those listed above.

With the attitude that a team like Derby in a mess is too big for us, we are never going to get back to the Championship let alone live with the top end of it.

It's not that they're too big for us, as much as it is that some of them are going to have impressive resources to work with, as we have had. If we're not careful then this league will start becoming like the Championship is now and hard to break away from without spending serious money.

I believe KM is going to be the key to our success as we're moving away from an older generation of managers and coaching, this is where we have a little bit of an edge.

Other than that, Derby was idolised by a couple of prize plonkers on TWTD who would cheer them on and claim we needed to be like them. That started a lot of the hatred towards one of the most generic football teams besides Reading.

Good take. Two way street isn’t it, overvaluing our own history and that of other clubs wrt league position in third tier. Football has always had this reverence for celebrity and it gets in the way of facts sometimes.

Hopefully not . Bit if there are yet more wholesale changes people had better be prepared for yet more time to settle for the players ... I think there is a need for players with more grit and physicality to get out of this division... what do you feel ?

We need a couple as you describe and with the infectious leadership and organisation that brings more out of the players around them. Too often we let the opposition dictate the game to us and lose control of it. Two players like that in addition to what we have and a clinical goal scorer would make a massive improvement on what we have.

I honestly don't think wholesale change is needed or would be a good thing. It has damaged us when Hurst did it and when Cook did it. It would only take us further backwards again.

Not for me, they’ll struggle.

It depends, most clubs will bounce back in a couple of seasons at least (see Wigan who were embargoed out of the Champ and are likely going up this season), they will be tough because they are a big draw with good crowds, won't be restricted on wages for two seasons while down and if they keep some of their brighter players this season they should do very well.

Ipswich is a unique case as we are club that has been badly run for a very, very, long time and will take a long time to fix a bit like Sunderland and Pompey.

At least Mel Morris's overspending and rule bending finally achieved what he was trying to do-it got them out of The Championship.
