Can't imagine not looking up where your hotel is before travelling. I'm always interested to see where the nearby pubs/restaurants are, how far to the town centre and local attractions. The idea of just thinking 'we'll just turn up to the town and figure it out once we get there' is completely alien to me. |  | | |

I did have someone book with me a few years ago who thought they'd booked Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, luckily for them they realised before travelling and managed to change the booking.
I love how it's always someone else's fault though. If they stamp their feet and cry loud enough I'm sure they'll get a (partial) refund in the end, then it's just the guesthouse owners that loses out through no fault of their own. |  |

True but I do believe them when they say the Newport they believed they were booking was listed under Isle of Wight which if so is firmly the fault of Booking.com.
It's not exactly unheard of for Booking.com to make mistakes and then try to squeeze out of responsibility! |  |
