Logically speaking they shouldn't be able to claim this one example that helps their case when they dismiss the many that go against it, but they have no logic.

For me this just creates more questions for the Police. Why was a 22 year old member of the public brave enough to confront a gunman that had killed three people when an insane number of trained, armed police, paid to put themselves into danger to protect the public, wouldn't go into a school for an hour where kids were being slaughtered.

As much ammo as this story gives the NRA, pun intended, at least this lad prevented further deaths through his bravery. Only silver lining there is when events like this do happen - which it wouldn't have without guns.

Didn't prevent the murderer from killing the first few people, did it?

Ah but wouldn't it stop it from qualifying as a mass shooting and thus keeping the mass shooting statistics down a bit, just to further help the NRA argument.

3 people being needlessly slain in cold blood doesn't even qualify in America for being a notable event. It's so depressing that this horrific event won't even in the top 700-800 mass murders this year in the USA.

It's that much of a non-event to them. Three people being shot to death!

“Gun rights advocates held up the case as an example of why gun ownership by law-abiding citizens is important.”

What kind of parallel universe are these people on?

One where they only see that by allowing guns you can have a young man stop a murderer at just three murderers.

Instead of having no murders at all because neither of them has a gun.

America is fuc^ed up. You can almost hear the wet dream in this.

"The police chief said that Mr Dicken had shown "proficient" and "sound" tactics in firing at "the gunman with a handgun from quite a distance", despite having had no law enforcement or military training. Mr Dicken also gestured for other shoppers to flee behind him "as he engaged and closed in on the suspect", said the police chief. He fired 10 rounds."

I'm trying to imagine what the situation would be if said untrained, unqualified person shot from a distance and killed a child instead of the shooter.

Presumably he'd still be a hero.

10 rounds fired by a member of the public with no training is sound tactics hey.

We don't call three people a mass shooting. We call it Monday. All kidding aside, four victims either dead or wounded is considered a mass shooting. There have been 354 mass shootings so far this year. It's disgusting and our politicians simply don't give a sh*t. The NRA's pockets are deeper than the pockets of the parents of dead children.

Yes lets promote trigger happy vigilantism over massive gun control on 16:21 - Jul 19 with 598 viewsunstableblue

That's going to end well!

Seriously, I know some firearms officers in the UK, and the level of training, safety and situational awareness is off the scale, US police officers will required significant training.

You are just setting a precedent for open carry and citizen led policing... nothing to come from that.

Add in this weird aggression to authority building a head of steam over there... plus massive drought, and wealth gap... what could possibly go wrong?

The US is heading towards civil war. The republicans have already established that they will not accept any defeat in the next election. One of the candidates for Arizona, a psycho named Kari Lake has already said she will call fraud if she loses. The system is broken. The only way forward is it burning to the ground. The next election is going to be disgusting. If it were a third world country manipulating elections, we'd be bombing them in the name of democracy.

On your final point - only if they had oil or gas plus Russia and China weren’t too bothered.

Fair point. We only attack countries weaker than us who can't fight back and have resources we want.
