Even Pigott has scored tonight! (n/t) on 14:00 - Aug 11 by AlanG296 | You were the one who brought league Cup into a thread about Pigott in general and the bigger picture. The team performance is completely relevant when discussing whether Pigott should be here or not. |
Because this thread is about Pigott scoring in the league cup, and the only game we haven't scored in is a second string game in the league cup. Not that hard to follow is it.

Even Pigott has scored tonight! (n/t) on 21:45 - Aug 9 by TractorTom5 | Piggott was good. Never given a chance. |
Cook didn't give him a chance but McKenna certainly gave him a few chances and he failed to take any of them. He looked completely bereft of confidence, had a poor touch, looked completely lost and kept getting in the way. He looked low on confidence during pre season and was one of the few not to get a goal against Needham.

Even Pigott has scored tonight! (n/t) on 22:35 - Aug 9 by lazyblue | Pigott is a good finisher and should have kept him and moved Jackson on. |
Let's not rewrite history here, Pigott couldn't hit a barn door last season, looked really devoid of confidence, and his all round play was really poor, his boot was like a trampoline on his first touch.

Even Pigott has scored tonight! (n/t) on 02:37 - Aug 11 by Pompey1234 | We've done well in the transfer market regarding strikers. Piggott is playing outstandingly well and got a goal his play deserved Bishop has 2 in 3 and really should have been awarded the goal Jacobs snaffled before it crossed the line at Wednesday in our 3-3 draw. We've also got an England u19 striker from spurs who is electric and will be a star in the future. Very clever with masses of pace Dane Scarlett. Cracking player. Our gain is your loss. Thanks anyways |
Certainly not our loss. He scored 2 goals in the league, and never really looked like scoring much more. I think as with all players, they suit certain styles and systems better than others, and with the way the Cowleys play, and two big lumps up top, he will likely do well for you.

He's also completely at odds with how KM wants to play. He's not a striker who will run in behind defences and stretches back lines, it's just not what he does. He's big, strong, good in the air, drops in and wants the ball to feet. He doesn't suit our tactical approach at all as that central striker. At best he would've been a 'Plan B' off the bench, but an expensive one at that. If he works for Pompey then great, I imagine he did for Wimbledon too hence his return, and probably would be made for a Wycombe, but that's not to say he's right for us. Feels a little early for anyone to be celebrating too hard. Pompey are yet to win in the league and he's yet to score, so has it all to prove still. Their 0-0 at home to Lincoln sounded dire.

Agree. That is probably why Jackson has improved under KMc, and looks a better option from the bench, because he suits our style a little bit more. We saw Pigott as the Plan B last season, and it wasn't a good outcome. I remember sitting at Crewe, and he started that day, and I don't sit at games and berate players, it does nobody any good, but he was so frustrating to watch that day, and I almost felt sorry for him. Hope he has a fresh start, because it is what was needed for him.
