The "new striker dilemma".... 10:06 - Aug 16 with 2602 views | Bloots | ....the way I see it we have 3 options: 1. Get a different type of striker in, a goalscorer, a finisher, like Hirst. Probably involve a decent fee or hefty wages for a loan. 2. Get a similar player to Ladapo in, trust Ladapo and use the alternate as a replacement if and when required. Less money, if any. 3. Get an upgrade to Ladapo in that plays the same way. Again probably a big fee or an expensive loan. Personally I'd go with option 3, I think it suits the rest of our squad and whilst Ladapo has done well so far, I'm not sure if he could perform at that level for the whole season.

The "new striker dilemma".... on 15:30 - Aug 16 with 525 views | BigCommon | Good luck getting an upgrade on Ladapo, for what he brings to the table...... Do well to find anything close, as a back up.... We got 6 goals in 2 games, all from midfielders? Is that not telling people something? I'd go number 2 option.. 20 goal striker is a nice luxury to have. But unless they bring a bit more to the table, they won't fit... Ask Joe Piggot .. And, besides, it doesn't guarantee, team success. Cole Stockton and Morecambe spring to mind. Could do with someone in the mold of Ladapo. As you say, big ask for Fred to go flat out all season long. Perhaps John Jules could slot in if needed? He's got the athleticism. I'm waiting and wondering like the rest of us. To see what might happen If Hirst was the main target, and it's blown out.? I'm not against an experienced head coming in, in the Ladapo mold. I'd prefer that , to another loanee, in all honesty... Either way, I've got faith in KM/Ashton to do the right thing.
The "new striker dilemma".... on 16:34 - Aug 16 with 506 views | jayessess | If Hirst doesn't happen then I think it will be very hard at this stage to recruit a striker who improves us in the short term. 5 substitutes is definitely encouraging teams to hold on to forwards. Look at us, we play 1 up front and have 3 centre forwards and are still pretty certain we need more. Bonne, a player we moved on from because we didn't think he was good enough, is getting regular minutes in the Championship. Having brought TJJ in and offered Jackson a contract extension, I think they'd be asking questions if they weren't at least Ladapo's understudy. I think if you take Option 2 then it'd have to be someone prepared to be very patient (possibly very young with a high ceiling). Option 3? Well, I'm not looking at the state of our bank account or wage bill, but I suspect at this stage we'd have to overpay significantly for a first team striker who is an upgrade on Ladapo. Nobody wants to let a striker go this late in the window.

Bonne has played about 20 minutes in 3 league games for QPR. He’s 3rd choice and by the end of the window probably 4th. You’d think that we could get him if we run out of other options.

Given that we're recruiting for a 4th centre forward, it would be weird if QPR (bigger budget, permitted 25-player squad, rather than 22) wouldn't also want 4?
