Shouldn't there be a law against this sort of thing! 07:47 - Aug 30 with 1515 viewsBanksterDebtSlave

https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2022/aug/30/why-do-some-people-hate-cyc

"I felt like a bit of a legend when I started cycling in London 18 years ago. Everyone was always congratulating me on my bravery. “Oh, you wouldn’t catch me on a bike,” people would say if they spotted my helmet or the cycling shorts peeking out beneath my dress. “Far too dangerous.”

I wonder what pronoun they use.

"They break our legs and tell us to be grateful when they offer us crutches."

Why are you slipping transphobia into an inane comment about cyclists?

So he can spend the next 20 posts saying that wasn’t what he meant in the first place and people are simply misunderstanding his op.

It is meant as a light hearted observation on a poorly constructed opening paragraph by a journalist. The last sentence was merely added as a pointer to what I was referring to with the title for the mentally challenged.

I guess the law already exists re. flashing but whatever......

Now tell me what you think I meant!

Blimey someone's a little fragile.....can you now explain how I've done that?

Alternatively, why do some (who consider themselves progressive) side with the Daily Mail and Nigel Farage in failing to see the environmental, health and economic benefits of encouraging as many as possible to adopt 2 wheels?

Moi??
People should cycle as much as possible. The thrust of the article re. culture wars is spot on.

Edit....just shout less when doing it in gangs!

I was originally going to find an angle to post the article in such a way as it portrayed you as the enemy of all that is good in the world.....then I read the first paragraph!

"They break our legs and tell us to be grateful when they offer us crutches."

So on a recent motorbike holiday, a couple of riders were seemingly more than a bit suicidal in happily over taking on blind bends - with no way of seeing what was coming the other way - yet happily passing vehicle after vehicle.

Was only after a couple of days of head shaking from myself that one of them explained they had comms and so if one was say 100 yards ahead - he'd tell his mate - "Blue car then it's clear"

Maybe similar comms is the future - but shouting directions does have the added benefit of not relying on batteries and/or loose connections.

He wasn’t.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

The pathetic need to be outraged is in full force this morning! Anyway if anything I blame Dubbers who told me my posting style can be too subtle for many and to try and explain things a little more clearly.....so that worked out well.....

It made me chuckle this morning while having my ablutions.
Thanks, got the day off to a decent start.

It must be a gardener thing. Regardless of an individual's preferred pronoun I am certain that none of us wish to see their helmet under their dress while cycling.
I shall await one of my detractors explanation of my transphobia.

That's at least 3 of us in need of re-education then!
Hopefully someone will be along soon to explain where we are going wrong.

Didn't need to bring the pronouns bit into it I would say (although I do get the gender metacontext caused by the lack of a comma). Personally I would have gone with...

"I thought you were supposed to wear them on your head...."

(adding yet another double entendre which may possibly have got an approving nod from Keno..)

You are the obsolete SRN4 to my Fairey Rotodyne....

The only other obvious correlation I can find between the 3 of us us we are all quite handy with a shovel. I like to think that this suggests that lads handy with a shovel find good helmet jokes more amusing then most people

Not worth the effort with someone so disingenuous.

A real shame to see the down vote from Stokie....one of the forum's better posters but has allowed his emotional issues with me to get in the way of reason and a logical interpretation of the o.p.
