McK and his Players 21:50 - Aug 30 with 1954 views | Metal_Hacker | I know someone mentioned it the other week but there’s quite evidently a great relationship between squad and manager Was brilliant to see him with Ladapo at full time Has proper respect from all it seems - top bloke

McK and his Players on 21:56 - Aug 30 with 1774 views | unstableblue | Yeah you could really see that tonight.. backed up by KVY interview comments about how great he is and his methods (described it as academic/going back to school such is the depth of preparation) Also Martyn Pert was having great celebrations and laughs with Edmundson on the pitch. Feels a good culture at the club at present. Ladapo goal is huge in my mind. Play him Saturday, and of course Harness. Just really hope Aluko injury short, and Chaplin is a minor niggle.

My view on McKenna's length of stay here, is that as long as he feels he's getting backing, is not interfered with in the areas he feels responsible for, and the team are progressing.. he'll stay for quite a few seasons (3 or 4 after this at least).. he's moved his family into schools and bought a house in a good area.. and critically this is a club with a passionate and large fan base.. there's really only Sheff Weds, Sheff United, Sunderland and Derby with us in League One and Championship who have that factor. But critically he's an intelligent guy, and this is his first season, he's still learning and very early in his managerial career.. this is good environment - he needs to have a period of challenge of poor results... which he may get in a season in the championship... this is a project and I think he'll want to see how far towards the premiership he can take us. IF he is feeling very confident in his abilities midway through a championship campaign and a premier league club of stature (that's not a Bournemouth) come in.. then yeah maybe it will be 2 years... but I hope and think not

Yeah. I’ve said it before on here that from what we’ve seen so far he looks like the real deal. The last time I saw a young manager have such an impact was Rodgers when he came down here to Swansea. There’s a lot of similarities. Both ooze emotional and footballing intelligence, build team spirit and make players feel like giants, and have similar views on the style of play (possession, but with emphasis on penetration and not just possession for the sake of it). I think we’ve found a gem who could take us straight up to the PL if we can keep him. Gamechager are key to all of this of course. Seems like a good partnership so far.

I was going to say the same; that you don’t really see the character until you have a poor run of results. Then I wondered if he actually had that bad run at the end of last season when we struggled to close games out. We’re a more adventurous team now, so I think he’s learnt from that spell. Maybe not and I’m probably just getting carried away. But still - I can’t see a Lambert-esque or Cook-esque collapse.

He appeares from the outside a very thoughtful, measured man with a clear idea of what he wants to do and how he wants to do it. I think he will be with us for a few seasons, not least because of the opportunity here. I hope that he is really demanding of the CEO and Gamechanger and visa versa. It’s amazing what can be achieved with that kind of dynamic providing the relationships are strong. The team and management are showing signs of that, which is why I’m unusually optimistic for a glass half empty merchant. [Post edited 31 Aug 2022 0:07]

My gut read is that he'll be here for another 2-3 seasons at least. He wants to make his name and build a reputation before moving on.
