The burning of the hijab 07:53 - Sep 21 with 4303 viewsGlasgowBlue

Incredible scenes coming from Iran as women take to the streets to burn their hijab after the murder of Mahsa Amini by the morality police.

Edit. Graphic content in the next two clips.

Sadly we know from the Green movement in 2009 that the Iranian state will brutally crush any protests. These really are brave people.

No. I wish I did. Because I know a lot of people from different faiths who do. And they all have an inner strength and ability to forgive and see the best in people.

That's not to say that other people I know who aren't religious don't share those traits. But those with faith seem to have that certain something to fall back on.

But no. There is no logic to it. But each to their own.

My experience is the opposite. Those I know who are most vocal about being religious, talk a good game but use it to cover up a multitude of sins. But maybe that’s just the vocal ones. Those who genuinely have faith probably don’t shout about it or use it to gain favour. Whereas any old a-hole can use belief as a shield or a justification to do bad stuff in *God’s name.

*Any of the thousands of them that have been invented so far.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

My question to GB was whether he believed in a God or gods - not whether he was, or claimed to be, "religious" - I think (although, guess what, he can speak for himself) his answer distinguished between the two positions.

Totally agree on the "cover" - paedo priests, anyone?

Just looked at a few of the Twitter vids (much like the ones Glassers linked)

Is proper going off over there. #IranProtests2022 seems to be the hashtag of choice.

Thanks for the link.

Just read this (it warns of graphic content, which isn't displayed for me, but the text is clear enough) -
