… but won’t pay compensation for him.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

Middlesbrough want McKenna as new manager… on 09:37 - Oct 12 by stonojnr

The point being he is at the beginning of his career and if he jumps to the PL too soon, and fails in whatever crazy way the PL teams consider not success now, that could be game over for his career, however well regarded he is, he's not a Lampard who clubs at the top tier will just keep giving jobs to however badly they do hoping he eventually gets it right.

The more success he achieves lower leagues first the easier it will be to move to the PL and then be given more time to find the success there

He’s not at the beginning of his career why do people keep saying this. He’s been a coach at Spurs and Man United. Let’s say Southampton sacked Hassenhutl tomorrow and came in for McK. He’s be mad not to accept it. Jobs like that come along so rarely. I don’t think Southampton *would* come in for him as he has achieved zip with us so far but that’s not the point. He would grab the opportunity and rightly so. This isn’t 1978 and we aren’t a big club anymore.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!
Poll: With Evans taking 65% in Huddersfield, is the Banter Era over?

Whilst I understand that there would be many clubs who are following the progress of McKenna as yet he has achieved nothing. Yes he has put us in a decent position but that's all. He is a small cog in a big wheel and as we have seen numerous times managers who are a success with one team doesn't make them a success with another and quite often without their assistant and owners, a CEO, under 23's manager, fitness trainers etc, etc all being behind that manager he fails. Would McKenna have been successful under Marcus Evans ? Besides that, money apart would he be any better off at Borough or any other medium size clubs than at Town where he's getting gates close to 30,000 and supposing we got promotion to the Championship and beyond and extended the ground to say 35,000 he'd be no better off unless going to a top half dozen club in the Prem.

Leicester, Southampton and Brighton are streets ahead of us as a club whilst being of a similar size. Training grounds, academies, sports science and the like - they are the sort of clubs we need to be worried about

Why go to any club that is struggling in a higher Division just because they have better training facilities. Town have already taken on McKenna's ideas that ours aren't good enough. Put most of that down to dear old Marcus. Thank Evans he's gone.
