2 interesting FA cup stats 19:22 - Nov 8 with 5027 viewsDaninthecampo

Stolen from the EADT
Since that win in 1978, we have now featured in ten live FA Cup ties. Before Monday night, we had lost eight of the previous nine ties with only the 0-0 draw against Liverpool in the fifth round in February 1992 saving us from a clean sweep of defeats.
And
With just two wins in our previous 23 FA Cup ties, that put us 92nd out of all football league clubs, in terms of wins

Terrible stats. Can only get better!

Thanks, that's interesting. It's strange that the evening TV schedule could cope with a recorded match being dumped on it, but the afternoon schedule couldn't cope with a live match.

Only the highlights were shown, in the usual MotD format.

The first game (away) wasn't on TV - I think it finished 1-1 (I remember Warky scored for us)? The replay at home was live on Sky - I remember watching it at my local football club. It was a depressing game. We were in the Premier League and Wolves were in the 2nd division.

Yes, I remember Steve Palmer scoring our goal & for the rest of the game doing what he did in midfield, rampaging around the pitch like an angry bull.

Was it really? I must have had no idea at the time or I'd have watched it.

Yes, 2-0 down at half-time (Lee Mills the scorer?) and then Palmer scored 15 seconds into the second half. And that was it.

Sky showing a close up of Billy Wright in the stands is about the only other memorable thing from the second half.

I can remember watching it in a pub in Stoke when I was at uni.

Yep I remember watching at home - wasn't normally allowed to stay up.
