Kayden Jackson saved my life 09:08 - Dec 16 with 16492 viewsNORFOLK_BLUE

Just wanted to share something with you if I may.
I know Kayden Jackson often splits the crowd, however I for one will always be indebted to him.
Just pre-Covid, I took my young son to his first ITFC game. I had the intention of ending my life after wards but wanted to take him before I did so. We ended up sitting right near the tunnel.
My boy was keen for a photo of the players as they came out so I called a few names and Kayden Jackson was the only one to come over. He spent ages with my boy. Photos, autographs, high fives and a good chat. Kayden then said something off the cuff about mental well-being that stuck with me. After the game we were stuck in traffic by the players exit and Kayden was in his car next to us. He recognised my boy from earlier and unwound his window to ask him if he enjoyed the game and if he was going to go again.
It was such an small and simple thing for him to do, and it may seem silly, but it really sparked something in me that evening. How humble he was, and how down to earth he was. There was no arrogance from a man who could very well have just ignored us.
Now 2/3 years later I am loving life, got a fantastic family and new vigour for it. I think it’s fair to say that Kayden, whilst not everyone’s favourite ITFC player, is certainly a hero in my eyes.
As long as he is at ITFC , then I will always champion him - and will always follow his career should the time come for him to move on.

Hello.

After encouragement from a mate, I did indeed let the club know. They passed it on the Kayden.
I won’t reveal the details however they did inform me of his response. It just cements his place as hero to me.

Wonderful. Both you and Kayden have added a great big dollop of happiness to the world with this and no-one will ever fully know just how many people this story makes feel that crucial little bit better. Thanks. Both of you.

That is the most emotionally powerful post I have ever read.

Footballers are often maligned but Kayden seems like such a genuine chap and I wish him all the best for the future. He spent some time talking to my girls and allowing photos with them (who were 12 and 10 at the time) on his Town return to Accrington Stanley a few years ago. It struck me at the time how he may just want to keep his head down and disappear into the ground but he was great.

I'm glad for you Norfolk Blue that he had such a positive impact - not just for you but also for your lad who still has his Dad.

Keep strong fella.

Never read this at the time but what a lovely story and glad to hear you are doing much better.

Kayden is a top guy. Met him on a couple of occasions and a really down to earth, normal fella. No sense of arrogance about him at all. Hope wherever he lands now he has success.

Jackson came to the higher levels of pro football quite late in life. He'd been knocking around non-league & League 2 for years without making a huge impact & then Town signed him (for a silly fee) seemingly on the back of 1 successful season at Accrington. Getting a 3 year contract at Town must have been a big deal to him at the time. Having really had to work his way up, no wonder he has a good attitude. I hope he gets a decent contract from a Championship club.
