MacAnthony on 07:57 - Jan 6 by textbackup | Do we need another CM tho? Once Camara is fit, ML might impress and get offered a deal, and we already have Morsy Evans Ball Humphries… 5 for 2 positions is already pretty heavy. |
I have to say I’d be surprised if Camara played again this season, and we already know Ball is out for the remainder. Clearly Taylor is a long term top target of McKennas (see also Hirst), so I’m sure if we can get a deal agreed, they’ll still go for him, regardless of our other options.

MacAnthony on 07:53 - Jan 6 by portmanking | Yep. This one will come back to bite them, as we should be able to sign him for half that (or even less) in the summer. |
Presume Taylor was interested in the move and terms with him would’ve been a formality?

Oh yeah, he was mad keen in the summer too. Which partly explains why his form has been a little muted so far in 22/23.

He'll be pleased with how this has all played out then ... unless he kicks up a fuss this month.

Don't think he's the type to force a move. Which explains why we've turned to Luongo in the short term. MacAnthony will know this summer is the last chance to turn a modest profit on Taylor. P.S. Taylor also enjoyed a great relationship with Ferguson, so won't be too unhappy to spend the next 6 months under him. [Post edited 6 Jan 2023 8:49]

MacAnthony on 08:17 - Jan 6 by itfcjoe | Feels like signing Luongo has strengthened our hand in signing Taylor, they now no longer know we are desperate for a 3rd senior CM so somewhat tilts the table in our favour and allows us to let it slide if we can't get the right price agreed. |
We seem to be the only suitor as well.

I'd heard terms were already agreed and it's just down to the fee

That's a real shame, felt he would've been a very good signing for us. Looks like we'll have to revisit in the summer.
