Journo’s releasing info on transfer targets 20:00 - Jan 5 with 2386 viewsSchancheITFC

Not sure if this has already be mentioned, I thought local journalists were instructed by Mark Ashton and the club to keep the rumour stories quiet as it didn’t help the clubs position negotiating ? And worse deals being hijacked by rivals

'Asked' as opposed to 'instructed'?

They’re allowed to release once the deals are done basically.

Probably applies to him as well, but maybe not so much.

Surely any journo can write whatever they want, they just might end up losing access to players and managers for interviews. No national hack would care presently about that so wise for Phil, Watson and co. to play nice.

Mel Henderson might play ball has he deals with Town a lot, but maybe not to the scale that Ham/Warren/Watson abide by.

It's a dilemma for the local guys. They want/need to protect their relationship with the club but on the other hand if signings are getting widely reported elsewhere (like Mel Henderson in the Mirror), they can't be seen to be behind the curve.

The picture taken in front of a dark stadium would suggest the Luongo signing announcement has been rushed out by the club, probably in response to the widespread speculation it was happening.

More likely that it was dark when the media content was being filmed.

In the summer transfer window it gets dark a lot later.

It wouldn’t have been rushed out, it’s all planned. ITFC had to wait until Boro confirmed his exit, our media guy would’ve contacted their media guy. Journos would’ve got word it was imminent and thus were able to then release their own stories.

As it was Mel Henderson’s info he released it first and then that allowed Phil to do his story and then the EADT.

It also suggests that Broadhead and Hirst are very close.
