Rough day for Dozzell and QPR yesterday 20:45 - Jan 8 with 7970 viewsIllinoisblue

This from Loft for Words doesn’t hold back.

The midfield was comprehensively dominated by the hosts. Andre Dozzell should have been charged an admission fee. From a long menu of embarrassing slop served up by QPR on Saturday, his was perhaps the most insipid of all. At one point, in the second half, a duffed clearance dropped his way 30 yards from goal and he just stuck a lazy leg out and bashed the ball straight back to the centre half who’d given it him in the first place off the flat of his shin pad. What was that? I mean, what was that? You talk about ball-playing central midfield players having a “picture in their mind”, he’s drawing his with a wax crayon. May as well not have been there. It was like playing with ten. A dog of a performance — I wondered whether Bob Carolgees was free to head up the coast, stick his hand up his ar5e and try animate him a bit. It’s as close to a 1/10 as I’ve come for a long time.

You are of course welcome to move along and not read or comment. Plenty of others seemed to find it interesting. It’s from a respected source and there’s the Nsiala connection too with the game in question.

If it were a one-off, I'd not say anything. But we have these threads about Dozzell periodically, where he's a bad game and QPR fans slag him off, it gets posted here and everyone churns out their long-standing opinions about him.

To me, it's weird. I rated Dozzell more than most but I'm not about to post a thread every time he has a good game for QPR. He's played in the vast majority of their league games this season, he's clearly doing just fine there. I don't know why it needs to be revisited so often (or why some people seem to take such joy in the prospect of him failing).

That is a funny write-up to be fair and confirms what we’ve always known.

Feel for him to be fair, that injury seems to have knocked the stuffing out of him somewhat, also I felt he needed to put on a bit of weight as he seemed so light but that hasn't happened, which is strange considering Snr is/was a big old unit. But looking at Cam it proves you don't have to be The Rock to play in that position.

I really wish him well, he's never had a bad word to say about us, especially given he was here during our darkest period with some awful managers.

Also, he's only a few months older than George Hirst, and you could argue he's had the better career given he's been a regular in the Championship, and to take this game in isolation, away at Fleetwood is a nasty place to go at the best of times, as we have found out.

No. One game doesn't confirm anything either way.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

It’s well worth the full report. It’s very funny.

With all the years of garbage we’ve witnessed, I can only empathise.

Always enjoyed their turn of phrase..."Keith Stroud doesn’t exist to get big decisions right, he exists to make sure that every single one of the little decisions is taken from exactly the blade of grass the infringement occurred on or the ball left the field across. No, there. Not there, there. Over there. No, there. There. There. No, not there, not there either, take it back, take it back, take it back over there, no there. There. There. Right, stop, take it again. Take it over there. On that blade there. There. There. There. I swear that pedantic little arsehole is only still refereeing at all because his wife can’t stand him being around the house, straightening the pictures and moving the fcking ornaments half an inch to the left all the live long day."

I think I'd have cried about this report on them crushing us during the Season We Don't Speak Of, but can find it slightly funny in hindsight now...

The picture on that report is as perfect a metaphor for Jon Nolan's ITFC career as you'll ever see. And the memories that the report brings back about that game and so many others between 2018-21 are why some still have the knives out for Dozzell and others. The way in which for 3 successive seasons that squad took any opportunity they had to, in Clive Whittingham's words, jump on a self -destruct button half a mile wide. They did it in the Championship and unforgivably, they did it in League One as well.
