Trying to remember when it became known as the cobbold stand. 1990s ?

Autumn 1996.

I used to work on the top floor of the Guardian building when I left uni, and can remember them putting the letters up on the side of the stand not long after I started.

All 4 and all 4 when they were called something different as well. Not all tiers though.

If you go back as far as me then the stands behind the goal weren't tiered. So, as long as you have stood at the back and the front then all bases are covered

Same here, as I sat in there for my one and only time 60 years ago. FA cup game against Stoke City and the famous old boy, Stanley Matthews was playing for Stoke. Heck that makes me feel old!!

I saw that game. My old Topical Times football annual which I read many times over had a cartoon in it with a player standing by the touchline saying "I hate these friendlies - too much standing about on wet grass". That seemed to me to fit Sir Stanley's contribution on that day.
