How many different stands have you watched a game from at Portman Rd? on 15:12 - Jan 29 by ElephantintheRoom | How about widening your survey to include East Stand chicken shed, west stand, churchman’s when it was bouncy wood - and for the really adventurous, North Stand other side of the fence with the away fans |
All those. Churchmsns wooden terrace was the best especially when it got rocking.

How many different stands have you watched a game from at Portman Rd? on 16:32 - Jan 29 by longtimefan | Maybe - when I stood in it in the 70s it was just known as the the East Stand as far as I remember |
Trying to remember when it became known as the cobbold stand. 1990s ?

How many different stands have you watched a game from at Portman Rd? on 15:12 - Jan 29 by SitfcB | Yep sat in Cobbold Upper yesterday for the first time in a while, best view in the house but horrendous facilities for this day in age. Massive queues from 14:30 to get in and it took 1/2 an hour. No room at all at the bars and stuff. |
Yeah we had all the Fortuna Düsseldorf fans all in the concourse and the entry to the stand and it wasn’t great getting in. Getting out took ages, we were one of the last to get out of the ground. Toilets were bad as well like really bad!

Wasn’t the greatest given you were still allowed to smoke in the ground in those days. At least two occasions where discarded cigarettes got caught between the boards and started burning and we were greeted with firemen up ladders at the back of the stand asking where the fire was!

Same here, as I sat in there for my one and only time 60 years ago. FA cup game against Stoke City and the famous old boy, Stanley Matthews was playing for Stoke. Heck that makes me feel old!! | | | | Login to get fewer ads
How many different stands have you watched a game from at Portman Rd? on 20:26 - Jan 29 with 1662 views | Stewart27 | Every stand. Every tier. Unfortunately too young for terracing! I’ve found my happy place in Pioneer middle tier. Will probably gravitate back to North lower when my boy is 12 because he can’t wait to get in there! But for now I’m enjoying the view.

It would have been odd if you had never watched a game in Churchmans given your username.

I've yet to do hospitality but thinking about changing that when I complete 50 years as a Town fan in September... sadly the actual anniversary isn't a Saturday so hoping for a Friday night fixture change next season

How many different stands have you watched a game from at Portman Rd? on 09:34 - Jan 30 with 1320 views | Swansea_Blue | Everything except old north (home & away). I may not have been in lower Pioneer/East of../Magnus, can’t remember, but I started out in the terracing on that side when I was a nipper, then moved to Churchman’s terrace. I’ve even done the Cobbold away section (which was super weird). No boxes.

How many different stands have you watched a game from at Portman Rd? on 09:37 - Jan 30 with 1315 views | C_HealyIsAPleasure | All normal stands and tiers except Churchman’s Lower and I think Pioneer middle tier, although I may have sat there when younger I have done both Pioneer and Cobbold Exec boxes though (Pioneer one is basically middle tier), but not the press box Might have to tick the two I’ve missed off now you’ve made me think of it EDIT: to add not the terracing versions either, too young for that! How many different stands have you watched a game from at Portman Rd? on 11:14 - Jan 30 with 1244 views | GeoffSentence | I've watched from every part of the ground except the new North Stand and the press box. As a bonus, the first time I ever saw Town play was from the top of a multi-story car park in or behind the old cattle market.
