Chancellor Lucan...a question. 10:54 - Mar 16 with 2901 viewsBanksterDebtSlave

Any news from the inflation front line?
The local farm shop just told me a net of onions is now costing them £30 rather than £12 in 4 weeks!! Sacks of potatoes up 50%.....
Any thoughts?

Shock rise in inflation....who would have thunk it!! Surprise increase in food inflation supposedly.
Chalk one up go the not experts!

Don’t forget about the recession we are definitely going to have that hasn’t happened. The dismal science indeed.

You never fail to make a fool of yourself

The talk of recession was by various government bodies, based on information at that time.

Much as they now predict that a recession will not happen, given the information at this time

Might this latest projection be subject to those same conditions ?

Rather like the projection that inflation would fall, whereas it has risen.

So you mean they were…..wrong.
Why do you always jump to defend the Government? Stupid rightie.

I took Chico's point to be that less value (to put it politely) should be placed on any/all economist predictions, as they're basically guessing.

Your desperate attempts to defend your betters isn always good for a laugh.

Your guff about a recession rather overlooks the fact that it is based on a projection ie there could still be a recession as the analysis is made after the event.

A projection that something might happen but didn't, is not that much different to a projection that something might happen but is yet to be proven right or wrong.

You could say that about many disciplines though. Economists are like Drs in that they never get credit for things they get right, but when things go wrong….

Many of their (economists) predictions for the impact of Brexit all came to pass. And indeed plenty of posters on here linked economic predictions when laying into Brexiteers pre and post referendum.

Of course predictions are just guesses - and in anycase, you can pull the wool over peoples eyes anyway.

So for example, even if you go by official figures - the headline is that inflation is at 10.4%, however, this is an average on different types of goods. Food inflation figures are actually 18.2%

There you go again desperately defending your betters like Hunt and Sunak, tugging your forelock to them. Thems know better than us!

eh ?

Chickie's bleat is quite the opposite, whereby anything that suggests that his betters haven't farked up is to be squeaked about

Which has him crowing about a projection that as off target, by telling us about a projection that has yet to be proven, right or wrong.

It is the selective nature of his bleat that is being mocked.

My point about inflation is that any projection is subject to numerous variables, as with all other projections.

If Sunak says the government is going to reduce inflation then finds it hasn't, the above holds true

However, It is only of relevance when numpties Sunak makes a claim about his government reducing inflation, the day it is announced it has gone up.
