Big fire news on 20:12 - Apr 17 with 852 views | Nthsuffolkblue | Ridiculous call out but understandable response - better safe than sorry. Although you have to assume they had a single call and, had it been genuine, they would have had several surely. As for the reporting, it isn't a patch on a bin fire is it?

There will be a certain number of pumps turned out depending on what the job comes in as. That is set by the risk assessments done by the powers that be. I'd say a good 60% of what I used to get turned out for were false alarms.
Big fire news on 10:27 - Apr 18 with 477 views | Whos_blue | Since Grenfell, fire and rescue services have had to review what resources they send to high rise incidents. This is to ensure sufficient resources are despatched on receipt of the initial call and there is not a reliance on the first crew that gets there to request additional resources. A smaller response is sent for fire alarm activations, so I presume the initial call in to the fire control room had credible information that there was a fire in the building. Ultimately it seems like an over reaction as it was a false alarm.
