Would we be the least disappointed to not go up? 11:58 - Apr 18 with 3909 viewsmattrolow

Hear me out here - I would obviously be gutted if we didn't make it now.

However, what a time to be an Ipswich fan again. Everything is so positive, if we don't go up this year then we've got an unbelievable squad ready to go again next year.

It might be the third tier but what a joy it is to support this team again.

On the flipside - Plymouth are enjoying their run, but judging by their comments they're viewing it as an opportunity they won't get again so there is some pressure and inevitable disappointment if they don't make it.

Wednesday fans - well we know they weren't even happy at the top. They don't have a manager they believe in, the squad is ageing and I don't know how confident they will be if they don't make it this year. Imagine there would be a lot of negativity around.

So therefore is the pressure on us the lowest, in some ways?

Not discounting Barnsley to make it either.

Personally, one would be fookin furious and suffer a debilitating existential crisis were one not to be promoted.

It's an interesting topic though. Sure, we'll go again and probably be in better shape than everyone else, certainly Wednesday, and most likely Argyle. But it will be a massive gut to most fans I would have thought, and not to mention Gamechanger. Also, not sure we hold on to our best players, but that's hypothetical.

Pressure is more or less the same on every club in the top six, for differing reasons, and amplified in different ways amongst the fan bases.

I wonder what the cost of not going up is?
I reckon our revenue would go up 10 million at least.

Not sure what you mean really but as I have said for months, failure to get promoted this year after everything would be the greatest failure in our history.

It can't be a greater failure than the failure that landed us where we are in the first place innit Chickers you silly sod.

But yeh, not going up isn't something to be dressed up as anything other than a failure. Just not one of the proportions you suggest.

I will be absolutely gutted if we don’t go up. We’ve worked our way back into it and have a real chance. We have a really good team at the moment and have been brilliant since February.

However, the big picture is that the club is light years further forward than two years ago in every respect bar the league we are in. We are getting stronger. If in this extraordinary season points wise for the top four teams it doesn’t work out, we will do it next year. It’s a question of holding our nerve.

So yes, bitterly disappointed but not downhearted if we don’t finish the job.
