Well that was a lot harder work than I hoped and thought it would be! 07:24 - Apr 19 with 835 views | tractorboy1978 | A win is all that matters at this stage but we didn't play particularly well at all last night. Better second half but we still really struggled to break through the flat back 10. A bit of quality from Burns/Broadhead for the first goal and a moment of daftness from their defender got us over the line. Kudos to Broadhead for sticking away a real pressure penalty. Peterborough and Barnsley will be far more open games and I think that is going to suit us. If we can get 4 points from those we are really well set going into Exeter/Fleetwood.

Charlton, at least to begin with, came to play, which was their downfall. Easier to play with a limited game plan to spoil, time waste etc but in fairness PV put in a huge shift as well. The defender looked more out on his feet if anything, using any part of his body (more than once) to stop the ball coming over! As you say this coming Saturday should be more open.

No space anywhere at all. They had pace wide to deal with Davis and Burns and closed down anything at all in the middle. They had no interest in coming out and pressing us with the only exception being when they broke quickly. Credit Vale as much as we weren't great. Second half we upped the tempo and kept going and were rewarded. Hard work but I don't think we were poor just Vale, tactically did well to nullify us for large periods.

It was one of those games where if we'd scored in the first 20 minutes, it would have probably gone on to be 4 or 5. PV put in a good shift but we really struggled to get going and it was probably a mistake not starting Hirst. His movement, hold up and link up has been a big part of the run we've been on. Not that it matters now and he will be back in on Saturday you'd suspect.

We did our bit (eventually) but it’s just amazing how regularly Muff manage to turn around a score and grab a win in the last few minutes. The Imps all but ended Barnsley’s auto promotion hopes last night so it’s 2 from 3 again. I still think we will 6 more points to secure promotion but I hope we get them before the Fleetwood game to avoid a nerve-shredding final day.

would agree re Hirst, Fred has done very well in the last couple of games but Hirst tactically i think would have been better from the start against that type of set up

Wendies are the key now you'd think. One more slip (even a draw) would surely be terminal for them. Earlier in the season i thought 92 would be enough and revised that to 94. Though on the set of results i'd thought we needed a while ago, we're down to 7 required which would actually be 95 (assumed only a point from the next two but winning the final two.) If anything could end up being the opposite!
