Colin released by Birmingham 17:28 - May 23 with 4599 views | GaryHaddock1967 | Birmingham released their retained list today and they’re releasing Maxime Colin. Surely could do a lot worse than him on a free as a right back option. Definitely need healthy competition for Clarke

Colin released by Birmingham on 12:17 - May 24 by FrimleyBlue | All depends how he gets on doesn't it? 18 months ago. He was the backup to Edmundson. Then he came in and did OK. Got turned inside out whenever a player ran at him down his right side. He vastly improved however. But we are heading into the championship. Better quality opponents weekly. Can he step up or is he a solid backup to a better more mobile lcb. |
1-on-1 he has looked flat footed at times, thought he really got away with one at Bolton as well with that penalty, that was such a sloppy challenge. If that goes in who knows what becomes of our season. All if's and but's though and on balance he did very well, a monster presence in the air which is arguably going to be more important next season as we inevitably see less dominance and spells of sustained pressure that we rarely had to overcome this season. Naturally left sided as well which did give us better balance. I'm sure he'll have a part to play next season and it's probably 'his shirt to lose' so to speak.

Colin released by Birmingham on 11:24 - May 24 by clive_baker | Agree that Clarke's longer term future might well be in the middle, he's got all of the attributes. Davis / Leigh / Clarke Woolf / Clarke Burgess / Edmundson Clarke / Donacien We're pretty well set defensively across those 7 despite Keogh and KVY moving on. You could probably add Ball to that conversation too. Wouldn't surprise me if we see another addition there but I would be surprised if it's an out and out central defender, unless someone moved on. |
I think there’s more value in getting a right back and using Clarke as the cover than say getting a left sided centre back. I think one pure left sided centre back is enough in a squad unless there’s serious doubts about the one you have. I’d pretty much say the numbers and quality across all areas of the squad except number 9 are pretty decent but we’ve also got scope to improve virtually every part of the squad. It’s a nice position to be in where we be choosy about the quality of who we bring in and also be patient in doing it. If we can bag Hirst fairly quickly it should be a nice relaxed enjoyable window.
