I know I shouldnt but this bit made me chuckle "We used to say Jermaine Jenas had a weird knack of always being ten yards away from anything that’s happening, well ten yards would be something to aspire to for Dozzell"

I feel sorry for the lad. Terrible injury to have in the middle of his development and probably lowered the apex of his ability by a fair amount.

Feel really sorry for Andre, cant help but feel the injury and playing under some horrific managers was really bad for his development.

Genuinely spitting in my Tea.

The thing is, we as a fanbase get a bit touchy whenever his name is brought up (and rightly, so to a point) but the barefaced facts are that he has been dreadful for a while now, all that promise should be in full swing now and he should be firing all cylinders, and unfortunately for him, he seems to be going backwards.

We witnessed these kind of performances in his time here, but we purred at his vision, his eye of the needle balls through, however, he doesn't seem to do that anymore and you can't really be a one trick pony these days.

Wish him nothing but love, but feel he has reached he highest he will get to and it will be downhill from here.

Such a shame, but he will be at Colchester in a couple of years.

Compare him with what Luongo offered the later part of the season. Luongo just made things happen and was always in the right place at the right time, especially when working with Davis.

Absolutely not. Not even on a free transfer.

We should be aiming much higher. He may well go on and become a very good player but right now Ipswich are too good for him, not the other way around. He will likely be heading to league one.

Quite right. If you compare his trajectory to Flynn Downes it paints a pretty good picture of where he has failed. I don't think he ever looked like he had the drive to go and take games by the rough of the neck.

I can't see there being many teams in the Champ looking to take him on next season.

No thanks!

He has been vastly overrated by many on this site, because of his name frankly. Injury didn’t help him but he has always looked lightweight and incapable of imposing himself on a match.

If the opposition sat back and watched him play he could hurt them but as soon as a tackle went in on him he disappeared here and it doesn’t sound any different at QPR.

Genuinely not sure what his level is.

He should have moved abroad, a warmer climate less frantic and intense league, he has a great touch and range of passing, he could still go to the US now and make a damn good living I'd have thought.

I think that's just ignoring the Andre that made his debut here, the injury he had or the point at which he was at that season. He went from about to start at a young age in a Mick McCarthy team at a very decent level.

QPR have been a basket case and to chime in with the author's assessment, they've picked managers further and further away from playing decent football.

If anything, the comments about Andre seem to focus on revelling in his difficulties and doing down one of our own. That's a much more stubborn characteristic amongst a minority of our fanbase.

We'll never know how much that injury has take from Dozzer, a cynic would say the QPR move was sought out because it would offer a decent payday before it became too obvious that he wasn't going to fulfil his potential Most of thought we'd done a number on QPR getting a mil for him, others cried at the loss of one of our own for a pittance.

The year Paul Hirst took over it felt like it could be a breakthrough year, he got pre season mins, looked good and then failed to get any game time. I'd be fascinated to know if anything was said from one to tbe other.

L1 was never really going to suit his game but equally under Lamberk we sore a player not willing to put in the hard yards. A pass like Pirlo every 12 games didn't cut it and even when they materialised Andre spent too much time admiring his work rather than pushing up the pitch and trying to get in a scoring position.

Maybe his confidence was shot after the injury, maybe the injury has impacted him physically, perhaps he's lazy or maybe just not very good..

On the other hand he played at various England aged categories with success, the right manager, the right tram could do wonders for him.

Personally I take no pleasure in seeing him struggle and hope he still goes on to have decent career, as much for the pleasure it would give his dad as anything.

It's a shame and I agree with those who don't see how he fits into an Ainsworth side.

It will be v interesting to see his next move. Ultimately however I'm delighted we got decent money for him and invested it well.

Nope. Unfortunately he failed to transcend from youthful promise to senior player. The injury certainly didn’t help. But I’ve always thought he was too lightweight and football, these days requires many attributes, not just the ability to “pick out a pass”. In truth he offers little.

II think he's a player that hasn't yet found his position. I'm not convinced his future is as a deep lying ball player. I think he's technically very strong and clearly has an eye for a pass, but I've never seen the level of influence from him to be the 'drumbeat' for a side at that level and set the tempo. He's not a kid anymore, for me it's exactly the same reservations I had about Kevin Bru when he was here. Technically very able, clearly well schooled, but it counts for little unless you can influence a game consistently. Both have / had a tendency to go missing for large periods, lack physicality, and I think to play that role effectively you've got to be such a complete footballer.

I still think with his obvious attributes he would be better suited in the #10 role, let him create from higher up the pitch where he can do more damage, and take a little bit of that responsibility off his shoulders.

I think that's a very valid point about the state of QPR. Not a great environment in which to be playing your football, and by all accounts he's not been enjoying it either.

Feels like he's approaching a bit of a crossroads in his career as he goes into the final year of his contract. His next move is massive.

Hmmm, I think people used to suggest he would be better in a Championship team, maybe he would be good in the Premier League.

Do we have a sell on clause?

Maybe he would excel in a team that did precision passing in the champions league even, not his fault people can’t pass the ball to him accurately.

Sadly many young men who follow in dads footsteps don't end up anywhere the class of their old man. No one likes to see a player injured whether current or past. But it's easy to get starry eyed over players that were frankly disappointing. This doesn't just happen to Town, but to many up and coming players. They start of as the dogs dangly bits and end up has beens moving from club to club until the disappear into obscurity. Sadly although we as supporters tend to put a player down if we believe them not being loyal to a club, the same applies to a club being loyal to a player. Unfortunately players to clubs are like horses to race horse owner, break down and you are in the knackers yard.

For ITFC? Why? We have an abundance of CMs and it'd mean changing the system something McKenna is unlikely to do.

He possibly blocks Humphreys and could be a replacement for Evans given we don't need his set pieces since January.

Is Dozzell good enough for a newly promoted Championship side? Sure, is a player that needs the right sort of side/backing from the manager? I'd say so.

Those don't make him a bad player, and becoming the scapegoat for a club that's the arse fall out of it like QPR is a bit too simplistic to reduce good/bad judgements. None of which deny the fact he was an incredibly good prospect when he came through and likely to have had a very good career if not for such a freak injury and set backs.

Well he’s not the only one taKing a pasting on QPRs forum. In fact most of them are and given the second half to the season they’ve had, that’s no surprise.

I haven’t commented because I’ve only seen QPR a few times on the tv and that’s not the best way to judge a player. I saw a lot of his games for us though and tbh I thought he’d do well in the Championship. He might still do so, but I feel this coming season is a very important one for him.

He was a great prospect. Not seen too many better at that age, but that doesn’t always translate to a top end professional career. Dean Bowditch was one of the best young players I saw, yet his career never went beyond L1 standard. In the hard world of professional football, it’s how it is.

Is AD the right sort of player for a newly promoted Championship side? Not sure tbh. Would he get in our current side, assuming we keep Luongo? No. Would he add value to the squad if say Evans left? Possibly, but your point about Humphreys is a good one.

Assuming Barnsley fail to win this weekend I can see Dozzell on loan there next season. A footballing team that might play to his strengths, especially if Luca Connell goes - a player who has impressed me - again, it’s hard to judge from the tv. Peterborough are another club that plays football that might suit him for a season.
