England U21 10:41 - Jul 4 with 1391 views | the_toff | Anyone been following the Euro U21's? Not seen much chatter about it. England play Israel in the Semi final (beat them in the group stages without too much trouble). Spain or Ukraine awaits the winner in the Final. England have looked strong.
England U21 on 11:18 - Jul 4 with 1318 views | vilanovablue | If we get to the final I suspect either Spain or Ukraine to be very tough opponents. I caught the Portugal game and thought we looked decent the U21 team do seem to lack a proper out and out striker which is a bit odd.
England U21 on 11:45 - Jul 4 with 1267 views | SheffordBlue | They've been really entertaining to watch I thought. Brave playing out from the back against a high pressing Portugal. They've looked good going forward although not really taken enough chances in the games I've watch.

England U21 on 12:22 - Jul 4 with 1210 views | RobTheMonk | U21 football is always an interesting watch. It's always intriguing to see where careers go 5 years down the line. There's a couple of players who were very highly regarded that I had some interactions with, both expected to have premier league careers with both having made appearances for their clubs as teens. One of the contracts was ridiculous. Both have had pretty decent careers, but not at premier league level. There's two players that I vividly remember watching years back; one was Christian Erikson who was streets ahead of anyone on the pitch. The other was Sweden's Marcus Berg who looked like the complete striker and then some. [Post edited 4 Jul 2023 12:28]

Thought we were very solid in defence against Portugal and largely limited to them shots from range, bar the one that hit the woodwork.

Marcus Berg is still playing (age 36) but IFK Göteborg are really struggling. They just don't seem to be able to turn things around, season after season.

Yes it's still a long way to go from being a talent at U21 level and having a sustained career in the top flight. Even more so the younger you go. Although I remember watching an England U16 tournament years ago, the captain and CB at the time was head and shoulders above anyone, he looked like a man among boys, shouting orders at his defence, winning everything on the floor and in the air. A monster. To be fair he did go on to spend most of his injury plagued career in the Premier League, and obviously his career highlight would've been his 3 appearances for Ipswich. A certain Steven Taylor.

It was Balogun from Arsenal who was very good, but he switched to USA just before the tournament(think he got a senior call up) - so Gordon is having to fill in.

Yes I had seen that had happened. Looks like we just took Archer and have essentially taken "forwards"
