So the big question - what squad number for George Hirst?? 17:03 - Jul 12 with 4120 viewsitfcjoe

Does he keep the 27?

Does he follow Marcus Stewart and go from 27 to 11?

Or does he want that number 9 that Freddie currently has?

We need to know.

Clarke is still wearing 34 in pre season - he said he picked it because of his Grandad so may end up sticking with it

Ah fair enough!

Surely Broadhead goes to 14? Taylor to take 16?

Taylor wore 14 at Needham, with Broadhead still in 33 - but think they may all change when announced

That'll go to Clarke.

He'll move to 45 so he's one better than Donacien

They change every year unless someone is very attached to a number - for example Morsy @ 5.
I think you are right though, would seem very harsh to take 9 from Fred.

Some won't move. Broadhead has never had a settled number. He was 9 at Sunderland, 20 at Wigan, 34 at Everton, 11 in their Yoofs, (amongst others).

Taylor was 8 at Peterborough. It would make sense to move Evans to another number, he's going to have to battle to get back into the starting line up I think.

Hirst is similar to Broadhead. 14 at Blackburn, 19 at Portsmouth, 9 at Rotherham, 45 at Leicester. Chances are, he stays at 27 and makes that his career number.

I have heard that McKenna pays a lot of attention to squad numbers and likes them to be right - was told that before last season and he did move some about, take ones from certain players i.e.

Harper was 4 - gave that to Edmundson
Took 9 from Pigott and gave that to Freddie
Moved Chaplin from 21 to 10
Tooke 3 from Penney to leave blank, and then gave to Davis when he signed afterwards

So a few examples where he has just done what he wanted.

Would he take a 9 of Ladapo, or an 11 of Harness, or an 8 of Evans if he still sees them as squad players and regular options? Possibly - guess we'll see.....but I wouldn't be surprised judged on what Iw as told and then what happened last year

Harper, Penney and Pigott were clearly going to get moved on. Must be different for Evans, Ladapo and Harness assuming they'll all be active members of the squad this year. It'll be a huge kick in the teeth if he took their numbers away.

Maybe if Hurst is going to cost 3-4 million then he might get the number 9, just from a shirt sales perspective.

Anything for 30 seconds of attention. Weirdos.

Do people genuinely think others followed him around, or they just happened to see the car… and thought ‘oh christ look it’s Hirsts car’

Well, they were definitely outside the Salthouse.
Could have been there by coincidence I suppose.

Still full on weird to record yourself doing it and post it on Tw@tter though.
