We've been fantastic. Quick, free flowing football. One touch. It's had a bit of an England Vs a minnows vibe to it. Really good. If we lack anything it's a bit of sharpness up front but understandable in preseason.

North End looked poor. Sounds like they have lost a couple of experienced players and not yet replaced them. We started off exactly where we left off last season and made North End look just like League 1 opposition looked against us last season.
However, second half we looked poor after the changes and the young kid they brought on gave us some real problems.
Overall a very useful run out and some encouraging signs with some things still to work on.

Yes, we didn't have the composure in the second half that we had in the first, especially with the control that Morsy and Luongo gave us. Indeed, from the team in the second half, only Hirst and possibly Taylor staked a claim for playing ahead of the starting 11.
But maybe too soon to draw too many conclusions from a friendly. And overall a really encouraging performance and result. [Post edited 19 Jul 2023 21:03]

Hard to know where Preston are at. If anything the way the finished against our young guns suggests before the young guns came on we were just very good.
I just wonder if our style is just much more effective against better teams. We won't have teams sitting back on average pitches with big lumps to kno knit up to.
Very very positive signs.
Imagine adding a couple of really top players to this lot. A top Championship defender and forward and with Omari and we are a very serious outfit! | |
