The government constantly tells us we need to ride out the storm when it comes to interest rates adding hundreds of pounds to people's mortgages, and that we need to not ask for inflation matching pay rises so that what we earn keeps up with our outgoings, but they've had less to say about large companies posting huge profits during a cost of living crisis. I've heard minor rumbles about looking into supermarket pricing but that doesn't seem to have gone anywhere and there's no real appetite to push large corporations to shoulder their share of the pain. Incredible that we just tolerate this really. |  |

Should note that nearly 20pc of FTSE companies are issuing profit warnings, so it’s not ALL firms profiteering. The likes of Tesco just need to be punished at the checkout, use Aldi and Lidl if you can, they are eating into Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury’s market share - so hopefully it will come back and bite them. I also try and use local/small businesses where possible, but appreciate that’s a luxury that many cannot stretch too. |  | | |

Bit of a pre-season loss flounce this isn’t it? Unilever anticipated selling less products in some sectors so up weighted costs in others to cover any anticipated loss and actually returned a healthy profit - that’s just very good commercial enterprise. Unless I’ve missed something, corporations who have made their fortunes through capitalism have never been about benevolence so what’s the new news story here? The simple answer is don’t buy from conglomerates if you take issue with their for profit strategies. | | | |

The big boys in the food industry are not profiteering on groceries.
In fact they are more likely to be losing.

1) “they comply with all laws of the countries they operate in” even if those laws are batsh1t crazy and those countries are international terrorists whom they won’t stop doing business in because;
2)“it’s too hard”

So what is your suggestion? They break the law, suffer the consequences whatever they may be, and then reduce their margins elsewhere to appease those that complain they are profiteering.
