So i5s just one or two that may get over the line now?

I can't imagine we'd be bringing in two centre backs, so presumably we've moved quickly on Kongolo after McNally fell through. That would mean there's another, unknown, signing still in the works. Kongolo's injury record is a concern to me, but it feels like we're in a position where beggars can't be choosers.

Things clearly haven't got to plan, but it's still only the 1st August and we've got 4 fit centre backs (even if they aren't necessarily exactly what we want/need). So I'm not sure anyone we signed now would be a "beggars can't be choosers" thing, rather just a choice we've made (a choice that you'd assume involves some weighing of risk/reward, whoever we end up with).

Wouldn't he be well down are pecking order, I'd rather keep baggot and run with what we have,

I can appreciate why we want to bring someone in so we can let Baggott go out on loan. I think someone (itfcjoe?) mention that he's now at the same age as Woolfenden when he had his loan spell at Swindon. He needs a run of first team football and we can't really offer him that.

Surely you'd keep Baggott around if you're recruiting someone with a recent injury record?

Baggot will not get game time here and will obviously develop better( get more experience) elsewhere so why people keep saying keep him here baffles me.

Not if it stifles his development. I presume we'll use Donacien as an emergency centre back if need be, with Ball playing full back. There's only so many contigency plans we can have in place. If we can keep Kongolo fit he could be a very shrewd signing. Question is how much emphasis is on the word 'if'.

I don't think it's straightforward that going out on loan has always helped our players develop better.

Injury record is a concern but if Fridge had regularly started since October and we'd never lost a game with him in the side (that's Kongolo's record since he came back at Le Havre) we'd probably be talking about what a renaissance he was having and how great it was to have him back up to full speed. True, but that's always the risk with loans.
