Parking very near the ground 15:23 - Aug 10 with 1560 viewsazuremerlangus

I’m taking my Dad to the game on Saturday, and as he is the wrong side of 85 can’t walk miles without getting proper knackered. My usual parking spot isn’t suitable as it is a fair traipse so can anyone recommend any possible options - I get that traffic before and after the match will be the trade off for closeness to the ground but that isn’t a problem.

If you’re absolutely in no rush after then Portman Road is the best car park for closeness, if you don’t fancy the wait out of there then Cardinal Park would be the other option, there’s a little cut through to walk to PR passed KFC.

He has parking in his car lot on Portman's Walk, just off Sir Alf Ramsey Way

Usually £8 iirc

Park and ride should drop off and pick up close to the ground.

Yep, this.

If you arrive before 1.30, there should be plenty of room.

You’ll be in there for up to an hour or more after though.

Could you hire/borrow a wheelchair and still park in your usual place. Perhaps the club may also have a safe place to store it too.

The option I would look at is either the car park on west end road (IBC) or if in early Cardinal Park. They are the closest. Does he have a blue badge?

When my dad reached this stage I used to drop him off and then go and park. He and my brother had a pint of flat and expensive beer ready when I got back 30 mins later.
