Brighton and Brentford 20:29 - Aug 19 with 942 viewsMercian

These clubs are showing what well run traditional Championship clubs can achieve with sensible investment, good management and owners who have the the best interests of the clubs at heart. It will take a while but I think we are on a similar track.

Neither are "traditional Championship clubs" are they? They've spent most of their existences in the lowest two divisions I'd assume.

Neither Brentford or Brighton are traditional Championship (second tier) clubs, but I agree with your general point.

Very well run on the football side, certainly.

They are both heavily reliant on generous owners, especially Brighton who owe their Chairman close to £500m. Luckily for them he’s a true fan, and a billionaire. And presumably(?) has no intention of asking for his money back.
Whether the level of investment is sensible is a matter of debate!

I would say it is good investment. Reckless investment was with Forest last season. They bought so many players on high wages that had they been relegated it could have bankrupted the club. It payed off for them, just. For every good buy like Gibbs-White there was a lousy one like Lingard. Some of their better players last season were loanies like Navas and Lodi. They could well go down this season.
